Cross-Line Laser "CL8" with Tripod

Intended Use
The product is designed to create or check horizontal and vertical lines by means of two built-in
lasers. With the built-in optics, the product provides a horizontal and/or a vertical red laser line
(can be activated separately). The horizontal/vertical line is automatically aligned via the auto-
matic levelling system. It is also possible to switch off the automatic levelling system in order to
use one or both of the laser lines for a variety of other possible purposes. The power supply is
via two batteries of type AA (not included in the delivery).
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If you use
the product for purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged. In
addition, improper use can result in other hazards. Read the instructions carefully and store
them in a safe place. Make this product available to third parties only together with its operating
instructions.

Safety Instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety
information. If you do not follow the safety instructions and information on
proper handling in this manual, we assume no liability for any resulting per-
sonal injury or damage to property. Such cases will invalidate the warranty/
guarantee.
a) General
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is not permitted
for safety and approval reasons. Do not dismantle the product, except for inserting
or replacing the batteries as described in this operating manual.
• Maintenance, adjustment, or repair work should be carried out only by a specialist/
specialist workshop. There are no components for you to adjust or maintain within
the device.
• The product is not a toy and does not belong in the hands of children. It contains
small parts, glass and batteries. Additionally, there are other hazards due to the
laser (e.g. damage to the eyes). Use or store the product so that it is out of the
reach of children.
• The product must not be exposed to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, in-
tense vibration, high mechanical stress, or humidity. Handle the product with care;
it can be damaged by impacts, blows or falls even from a low height.
• The product must not be operated in explosive environments.
• Do not leave packaging material carelessly lying around, since it could become a
dangerous plaything for children.
• In schools, educational centres, hobby and self-help workshops, the operation of
the product is to be supervised by trained employees.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer's
Liability Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Facilities are
to be observed.
• If you have any questions that are not answered in these operating instructions,
please contact our technical department or another specialist.
b) Laser
• Please use the device only as intended.
• This product is provided with a Class 2 Laser. Laser signs in different languages
are included in the package. If the information on the cross-line laser is not written
in the language of your country, please affix the appropriate sign on the product.

• During operation of the product, the laser has to be directed in such a way that
no person or animal is located within the range of projection and that unwanted
reflected rays (e.g. due to reflecting surfaces/objects) do not get into the range of
any person or animal.
• Laser radiation can be dangerous if the laser beam or its reflection enters unpro-
tected eyes. Inform yourself about the legal regulations and safety measures for
using such a laser device in your country before you use the product and the laser.
• Never look directly into the laser pointer and never aim the laser at another person
or animals. Laser radiation can cause eye injuries.
• Do not point the laser beam at mirrors or other reflective surfaces. The uncon-
trolled, reflected beam may strike people or animals.
• If laser radiation reaches the eyes, the eyes must be closed immediately and the
head has to be moved out of the laser beam.
• Should your eyes feel irritated from laser radiation, do not perform any safety-
related tasks such as operating machinery, working at high altitudes or close to
high-voltage components. Do not drive any vehicles until the eye irritation has
subsided.
Consult a doctor for prolonged eye irritation.
• Do not dismantle the product, except for inserting or replacing the batteries as
described in this operating manual.
• Maintenance, adjustment, or repair work should be carried out only by a specialist/
specialist workshop. Improperly executed maintenances, adjustments, or repara-
tions might result in dangerous laser radiation.
• Caution - if proceeding in a different way or using any other controls than those
specified in this manual, you may expose yourself to hazardous radiation.
c) Operation
• The product must not get damp or wet, as this could damage it. Therefore, do not
use the product during precipitation, in humid environments or in/under water.
• Use the device in a moderate climate only, do not use it in a tropical climate.
For more information on acceptable environmental conditions, see the chapter
"Technical Data".
• Never use the product immediately after it has been brought from a cold room
into a warm one. The resulting condensation may lead to malfunctions or damage
under certain circumstances!
Let the product reach room temperature before using it.
• Protect the product from dust and dirt.
• Turn the product off when it is not in use.
• If the product is not to be used for a while (e.g. storage), remove the batteries/
rechargeable batteries. Old batteries/rechargeable batteries can leak and dam-
age the product! Afterwards keep the product in a clean, dry, and out of children's
reach place.
d) (Rechargeable) Batteries
• Correct polarity must be observed while inserting the (rechargeable) battery.
• The (rechargeable) batteries should be removed from the device if it is not used
for a long period of time to avoid damage through leaking. Leaking or damaged
(rechargeable) batteries might cause acid burns when in contact with skin, there-
fore use suitable protective gloves to handle corrupted (rechargeable) batteries.
• (Rechargeable) batteries must be kept out of reach of children. Do not leave (re-
chargeable) batteries lying around, as there is risk, that children or pets swallow
them.
• All (rechargeable) batteries should be replaced at the same time. Mixing old and
new (rechargeable) batteries in the device can lead to (rechargeable) battery leak-
age and device damage.
• (Rechargeable) batteries must not be dismantled, short-circuited or thrown into
fire. Never recharge nonrechargeable batteries. There is a risk of explosion!
Operation with rechargeable batteries is possible. However, the operating time is
reduced by the lower voltage (battery = 1.5 V, rechargeable battery = 1.2 V).
Therefore, we recommend operating the product only with high-quality alkaline bat-
teries to ensure long and reliable operation.
