2 Safety Notes

This unit corresponds to the directive for electromag-
netic compatibility 89/336/EEC.
Never operate the transmitter in places where it is
subjected to very high or very low temperatures
(admissible ambient temperature range -10 °C to
+55 °C).
Never use aggressive cleansing agents or chemi-
cals for cleaning the housing.
No liability for any damage will be accepted if the
unit is used for other purposes than originally
intended, if it is not correctly installed or operated or
not repaired in an expert way.
If the transmitter is to be put out of operation defini-
tively, take it to a local recycling plant for a disposal
which is not harmful to the environment.
3 Applications
In combination with a 5.8 GHz receiver of the
MONACOR
AV-58..R..
AV-5820TX serves for wireless audio and video trans-
mission. For setting up a wireless video surveillance
system, merely a video camera and a monitor are
additionally required. Due to its weatherproof housing
(IP 54), the transmitter is specially suited for outdoor
mounting.
The transmission range largely depends on the
local conditions and the receiver used. The maximum
range is reached when there are no obstacles be-
tween the transmitter and the receiver. However, in
buildings the range is reduced by walls and ceilings
depending on their condition.

3.1 Approval
According to the R+TTE directive (Radio and Tele-
communication Technical Equipment), the approval of
the transmitter AV-5820TX is valid in the countries of
the European Union. For operation in countries out-
side the EU, please contact your retailer or the
MONACOR subsidiary in the country where this unit
will be operated.

4 Operation

4.1 Placing the transmitter and the receiver
Practical experience has shown that an optimum
reception is achieved when placing the units at a
height of minimum 1.5 m to 2 m above the ground.
Prior to final mounting, a trial run is recommended as
the transmission quality can be substantially changed
by displacing the units by a few centimetres only.
4.2 Mounting
1) Remove the inner part (2) from the housing first.
For this purpose, press the two latches (1) outward
so that the inner part can be pulled out.
2) Use the bracket (3) to attach the inner part to a
wall or to a pole so that the cable inlets (4) point
downward and no rain will penetrate the unit.
In case of pole mounting, use the supplied
clamp with the wing nuts and the screws according
to fig. 1.
3) After making the connections (chapter 4.3) and the
adjustments (chapter 4.4), place the housing.
4.3 Connecting units
Switch off any units prior to connecting them. Always
connect the power supply for the transmitter last.
When changing existing connections, first disconnect
the power supply for the transmitter and switch off any
connected units.
All connections are made via the terminal strip (9).
Connection wires with a cross section of 0.14 – 1 mm
can be used. For inserting or removing a wire, press
the corresponding orange clip. Strip the connection
wires for a length of approx. 10 mm and insert them
through one of the cable inlets (4).
4.3.1 Surveillance camera or signal source
1) Connect the video output of the camera or the sig-
nal source via a 75 Ω coaxial cable to the terminal
