4.1. hydraulic safety
All installations must have hydraulic safety against:
1. overpressure in the distribution network,
2. overpressure due to temperature increase (expansion during heating),
3. overpressure to the failure of a thermostat or a contact relay.
Flow due to overpressure must not be stopped. This requires the drain pipe to have a
EN
continuous and sufficient slope and a suitable diameter for the network.
Whatever the installation, there must be a cold water stop tap upstream from the safety unit.
4.2. sizing of the hydraulic safety unit
The safety unit must comply with NF D 36.401 legislation. It must be positioned on the cold
water inlet (standard NF C 15-100 ch 559-3).
The sizing of the hydraulic safety unit depends on the capacity of the tank.

• When installing a number of tanks in series, it is compulsory to install a valve assembly,
no-return valve and a valve on each tank.
• If the network distribution pressure exceeds 5 bar, a pressure reducer must be assembled
starting from the general distribution.
• In the event of copper pipes, use a cast iron or dielectric sleeve (brass connectors are
prohibited).
4.3. installing the hydraulic safety units
4.3.1. Safety units
The safety units are always installed on the tank's cold water inlet. During assembly, respect
the flow direction indicated by the arrows on the safety units.
4.3.2. Safety valves
The safety valves are installed on the tank inlet using a tee (see diagrams below).
