Dimensions

The ELS 300 sensors are available in different
types, designed for different applications. The Tx
version for long-range applications (L-type) has a
deeper housing than other types. The dimensions of
the Rx housing are the same for all ELS 300 types.

Installation

• Be sure to turn off power supply when carrying
out electrical work.
• Clearly mark that this device is out of service.
• Mounting the sensor heads:
1. Verify that you have the correct type of ELS
300 for your application (operating range,
NPN or PNP, LO or DO and response time).
2. Drill the appropriate mounting holes of
12.5 mm or ½ inch. After drilling the holes,
remove the metal filings around the holes.
3. Install the Tx and Rx cables.
4. Connect the ELS 300 Tx and the ELS 300
Rx to the appropriate cable and snap it in.
5. Check if the sensor heads are mounted
properly and that there is no mirroring.
6. Verify the
expected behavior.

Important information:
In case of a category 2 installation, according
EN ISO 13849-1:2015, make sure that
• in case of a failure, the higher-level controller
stops the application.
• the safety distances comply with the local
regulations (e.g. EN 999).
• the installation height complies with the local
regulations (e.g. EN 999).
• mirroring can be excluded (EN 61496-2:2013).
