The hard coating also increases the resistance to
chemical acids. In broad terms there are some
chemicals that very aggressively attack polycarbonate.
These chemicals include toluene, benzene, acetone
and ammonia to name a few. Other chemicals
such as isopropyl alcohol and ethanol have very
little effect on the surface of the polycarbonate. Our
hard coat is designed to protect the polycarbonate
crystal from chemical attack providing a protective
barrier. Our hard coat is specified to protect against
acetone, 1% NaOH, 1% HCl, and Windex. However,
the hard-coat will not protect against all chemicals.
In addition, scratches in the hard-coat will leave the
polycarbonate vulnerable to these chemicals.
Avoid direct contact with solvents, detergents,
perfumes, cosmetics etc., since they may damage
the strap, case, or gaskets.
