4. Radio technology

Radio technology is the most modern form of time
transmission. With good reception, a radio-controlled
clock keeps very precise time and need never be reset.
With all radio-controlled clocks a deviation of just
1 second over 1 million years can be expected. The
official German transmitter is in the vicinity of Frankfurt/
Main and transmits via long wave 77,5 kHz within a
radius of approx. 1,500 km.

5. Setting up

Open the hinged battery cover (3) on the rear of the
alarm clock and insert one 1.5V alkaline battery, type
LR 6 (size AA), ensuring that the + and the – are the
right way round. Refit the battery cover.

6. Setting the time automatically

After that, the receiver is switched off. During the
reception phase, lasting approx. 2 minutes, the hands
stay at the 12 o'clock position. The entire procedure for
20
setting the hands to exact time takes up to 9 minutes.

7. Setting the alarm time

To set the alarm time you require, turn the adjusting
knob (2) on the back of the alarm clock in the direction
indicated by the arrow. If you turn the knob in the oppo-
site direction this will not always adjust the alarm hand.
To activate the alarm function, push the side-mounted
switch (1) upwards towards the bell symbol.

8. Switching off the alarm time signal

To deactivate the alarm function completely, press the
side-mounted switch-off button (1) down.
