Front Panel
1 POWER switch and indicator
For turning on and off the power to the unit.
The power is on when the switch is set to " " and off
when set to " ." When the power is on, the indicator
is lit in green.
Note
If the indicator is flashing or lit in red, there is a
malfunction. Turn off the power and contact Sony
service personnel.
2 PROGRAM indicator and select buttons
Press the $ or 4 button to select the program to be
decoded.
Each time you press the button, the programs which
have been multiplexed in the input transport stream are
switched in the sequence of PAT (Program
Association Table). The program number of the
selected program is displayed on the indicator in
decimal (1 to 65535).
When power is applied, or even when the input is
switched, the BDX-D1000 waits for the same program
as that being decoded when the power was turned off
or before the input was switched. If the program
number in the input stream has changed, select another
program number from among those available for
decoding by pressing the $ or 4 button to start
decoding.
Note
When the input transport stream exceeds 54 Mbps, it
may take more time to select a program. In such a
case, first select another input stream, then return to
the previous stream to proceed with the operation.
3 AUDIO indicators
Show the channel numbers of the audio signals being
output from the corresponding AUDIO OUTPUT
connectors on the rear panel. Output channels 5
through 8 are for future options.
Pressing the ← or → cursor key brightens the
indicators CH1/2 and CH3/4 in turn.
By pressing the ↑ or ↓ cursor key, you can change the
audio channel for the output corresponding to the
brightened indicator.
When this unit is in Menu mode (page 9 (E)), the
indicator shows "d1SP," and the audio channels
cannot be changed.
4 Cursor keys
To change the audio channel.
When this unit is in Menu mode, use these keys to
move the cursor on the menu displayed on the
connected monitor's screen.

5 MENU button

To select Menu mode.
6 INPUT indicators
The indicator that corresponds to the selected input
stream lights in green.
IF: Lights when the QPSK input is being selected.
ASI: Lights when the DVB serial transport stream
input (DVB-ASI standards) is being selected.
PARALLEL: Lights when the DVB parallel
transport stream input is being selected.
SDDI: Lights when the SDDI input is being
selected.
The input stream can be selected by pressing the
PROGRAM ( $ or 4) button while holding down the
ENTER button.
You can also select the input stream on the INPUT
STATUS menu (page 13 (E)) in Menu mode.
7 MONITOR SELECT buttons
Press the button that corresponds the audio channels to
be monitored. The lamp above the pressed button
lights, and the audio signals of the selected channels
are output from the MONITOR connectors on the rear
panel.
8 ENTER button
To register the selection at the cursor position in Menu
mode.
In normal operation mode, you can select the input
stream by pressing the PROGRAM ( $ or 4) button
while holding down this button.
For details on Menu mode, see "Menu Operations" on page
9 (E).
Note
When the unit is set to Remote control mode, all the
digits of the PROGRAM and AUDIO indicators
change to " " and operations on the front panel of this
unit are disabled.
