Overview

The BDX-D1000 is an MPEG decoder that selects and
decodes a program multiplexed in the input transport
stream and outputs digital and analog video/audio
signals.
The unit can handle MPEG2 MP@ML as well as
4:2:2P@ML compressed video, and thus can be ideal
as a receiver/decoder for transmitting materials.
For audio, MPEG1 Layer I and II compressed audio as
well as noncompressed audio from the BDX-E1000
MPEG Encoder Unit can be processed.

Features

Variety of inputs/outputs for versatile system
configurations
• MPEG transport inputs:
Supports DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting) bit
streams, one parallel and one serial. The DVB serial
input can also be specified as an SDDI (Serial Digital
Data Interface) input.
• QPSK input:
The built-in QPSK demodulator permits reception
from an LNB converter.
• Video outputs:
Supply serial digital (SDI) signals with EDH and
video index and high-quality analog (composite/
component) signals. Switching between D1 and D2
outputs is possible.
• Audio outputs:
SDI-embedded audio and AES/EBU digital audio
signals as well as analog signals of four channels (2
stereo pairs) each can be output.
In addition, 2 channels (1 stereo pair) are available
for monitoring.
• Control I/O:
Equipped with an Ethernet

232C
connector for remote control and another RS-
232C connector for ISR (Interactive Status
Reporting).

1) The embedded audio (digital) of D2 has a delay of
approx. 600 µs with respect to the AES audio (analog).
2) Ethernet is a trademark of Xerox Corporation.

connector and an RS-
Two descramble formats selectable
To meet system requirements, a descramble format can
be selected between DVB common and DES by
installing an optional board corresponding to that
format.
Flexible parameter settings and MPEG stream
monitoring on the menu display
By using the menu display which is superimposed on
analog video output, settings for various decoding
requirements can be set. You can also check the
MPEG stream status on the display to monitor
programs for broadcasting.
Transparent transmission of V-blanking
signals
Use in combination with the BDX-E1000 MPEG
Encoder Unit enables transparent transmission of
VITC/UB and Teletext/Closed Caption in V-blanking
signals.
Frame synchronization
Frame synchronization is possible by supplying an
external reference video signal via the reference video
input.
This function can be used in the following six modes
only:
• MPEG1
• MPEG2 MP@ML
• 4:2:2P@ML
• 4:2:2P@ML ALL I Frame
• 4:2:2P@ML with VBI
• 4:2:2P@ML ALL I Frame with VBI
Improved serviceability and easier
maintenance
Supports ISR (Interactive Status Reporting).
Compact 19-inch rack mountable design with
the height of 2U
