Unit Volume Flow Control
The achievable unit volume flows depend on the (modifiable) control settings. The possible settings
are explained in detail below.
It may be necessary to intervene on site in order to achieve certain requirements for the unit or its
certifications.
Delivery status (LUNOS standard setting):
In the delivery state, the volume flows of the unit are controlled or regulated according to the LUNOS
standard. A highly efficient control system detects the formation of condensate and ice in the heat
exchanger or in the unit itself and adjusts the volume flows of the unit in a fully automatic manner. In
this way the optimum balance between ventilation and unit efficiency as well as condensate and ice
formation is achieved. A so-called imbalance is created in the unit volume flows, whereby the supply
air volume flow is reduced in several stages until it is switched off completely. This can lead to negati-
ve pressure in the building and especially in the exhaust air rooms.
To prevent condensate and ice, the heat recovery of the unit is reduced.
A safety shutdown can cause the unit to switch off automatically when certain criteria are reached.
The requirement for condensate drainage is reduced to a minimum (optional condensate trays are
required depending on the installation position) and must be checked on site.
PHI control settings (may be required for passive house requirements):
In this control setting (setting change required in the unit), the unit (or the unit characteristics) comply
with the regulations of the PHI certification (see unit test certificates or unit certifications or test spe-
cifications for further details of the requirements).
To achieve the requirements of the certifications, the use of the optionally available heating register is
necessary (e.g. compliance with the comfort criterion).
Due to the balanced unit volume flows, condensate and/or ice can form in the heat exchanger and/or
unit. Therefore, a condensate drain (optionally available condensate trays are required depending on
the installation position) is necessary.
DIBt control settings (required to achieve the requirements of the abZ):
In this control setting (change of setting in the unit necessary) the unit (or the unit characteristics)
comply with the regulations of the abZ of DIBt.
Due to the restricted balancing of the unit volume flows, condensate and/or ice can form in the heat
exchanger and/or unit. For this reason, a condensate drain (optionally available condensate trays are
required depending on the installation position) is necessary.
(Air) Preheating Register (optional)
In order to achieve the PHI certification (comfort criterion), a preheating register for air heating,
available as an option or accessory, is required.
The integrated sensor system provides an analogue output for control. If a temperature <16.5°C is
measured in the unit at the supply air sensor ( nozzle (G)), a control voltage of 10V is provided at
output S1 of the controller (Z2) (Figure 3). If the supply air temperature exceeds 16.5°C again, it is
reset to 0V.
To control an AC (air) preheating register, we recommend using the additional module 5/ACM (order
number 039990).
Colours of the connection cables:
(Q) Red, (T) Black, (U) Red, (P) Puple, (R) Blue
Figure 22: Connection of the additional module 5/ACM to the controller (Z2) with an optional
230V AC (air) preheating register. A corresponding rubber grommet is already provided in the device
for cable feed-through.
The heating register should be installed directly before the exhaust air nozzle (D). This causes the
exhaust air to heat up considerably and a corresponding transfer to the supply air through the ent-
halpy heat exchanger. The possible formation of condensate and ice under certain conditions is also
further reduced.
When selecting the heating register, the necessary minimum volume flow of the heating regis-
ter must be observed. It must not exceed the adjustable minimum volume flow of the LUNO-
MAT in order to prevent overheating of the heating register.
The preheating register can also be used to obtain higher fresh air temperatures.
