11. Calibration

Determine which pH buffer solutions you will use. The first buffer should always be pH 7.00
(neutral), the second buffer should be near the expected sample pH. A third buffer solution will
bracket a pH range.
Neutral Point
1. Pour the necessary amount of buffer solution into separate glass beakers.
Never calibrate by dipping the electrode into the bottle of buffer solution, and do not
pour used solution back into the bottle.
2. Press to turn the power on.
Press
show on the display beside "MTC".
3. Dip the electrode into the neutral buffer solution pH 7.00. The glass membrane (10) should
be immersed.
Wait for the pH reading to stabilize at a value close to 7.00.
4. Press and hold
and "7.00" will flash.
5. If successful, the display will show "SA" (saved) followed by "End".
If the error message "Err" shows, please see section "10. Troubleshooting".
2-Point Calibration
- Rinse the electrode with distilled water then repeat steps 3 to 5 with the second pH
buffer solution.
- The display will show "SA" (saved) followed by a percentage of slope "PTS".
3-Point Calibration
- Rinse the electrode with distilled water then repeat steps 3 to 5 with the third pH buffer
solution.
- The display will show "SA" (saved) followed by a percentage of slope "PTS".
6. If calibration is complete, rinse the electrode with distilled water and blot it dry.
7. Put the soaker bottle (11) back on.

for 3 seconds to enter calibration mode. The display will show "CAL"
