7. Getting started

Warning!

Only use the device in dry, enclosed spaces. Never use it outdoors.

Place the toaster on an even, stable and heat-resistant surface only. If the toaster is not
placed on an even surface, it could tip over, possibly causing damage to property and
burns.

Maintain a clearance of at least 20 cm around the device. This prevents damage from
rising hot air and heat.
Risk of fire!

Do not place the device on textile surfaces such as tablecloths.

Do not place the device on metal surfaces. These can heat up quickly and cause a fire.

Do not place the device under or directly next to flammable objects, e.g. curtains or
blinds.

In order to prevent overheating, never cover the device while it is in use.
Risk of burns!

When switched on, the temperature of exposed surfaces may be very high. Only touch
the controls of the toaster.
Before you use the toaster for the first time, it needs to be cleaned. Before use, ensure that all parts are
completely dry.
Minor smoke development can occur when the device is heated first. For this reason, the
device should be used empty and then left to cool again three times before making toast for
the first time. During this process, open a window to ensure sufficient room ventilation.
1. Clean the toaster and all its accessories. For more on this, please refer to the
"Maintenance/cleaning" section on page 20.
2. Unwind the power cable (9) fully and feed it through the clip for the power cable (10).
3. Place the toaster on an even, non-slip and dry surface.
4. Connect the power cable (9) plug to a live mains socket.
5. Turn the control dial (8) to the "7" position.
6. Operate the toaster three times without any bread. Push the start lever (3). The indicator on the stop
button (7) lights up while it is in use.
