must check to determine where the interruption lies. This can either be a defective switch, a defec-
tive relay or a blown fuse.
5. If the defective component was determined, first switch off the circuit and only then repair or
replace the component.
6. Then reactivate the circuit and check whether the error has been remedied.

C: Continuity test

1. In order to test a component such as a relay, cable or switch for continuity, it must first be
disconnected from the on-board power supply on one side or removed.
2. Connect the auxiliary terminal to the disconnected contact and with the test tip make contact with
the contact still connected to the on-board power supply.
3. If the component has continuity, the display lighting switches to green and (0.0) is displayed.
If there is increased internal resistance of the component, the display is illuminated in white (see
also A 4).

d: Activating electrical components

*
iMportANt:
Assemblies or components which are not designed for operation with the on-board voltage
(e.g. controller, cAN bus system) may never be supplied directly with voltage using the
power probe because it can be destroyed. it is therefore urgently recommended to make
reference to the proper circuit diagram and the appropriate diagnosis process during the test.
1. In order to supply the testing component with (+) voltage, first make the appropriate contact of
the component with the test tip and then press the (+) of the rocker switch. The display changes
to red and the voltage value output via the test tip is displayed.
2. In order to supply the testing component with earth, first make the appropriate contact of the
component with the test tip and then press the (-) of the rocker switch. The display lighting
changes to green and (0.0) is displayed.
*
iMportANt:
if the side which conducts voltage of the component to be activated can be connected with
earth by pressing the (-) of the rocker switch, the corresponding fuse of the current branch in
the vehicle can burn out because the short circuit current flows through the vehicle fuse and is
not secured by the power probe.

E: Function test of disassembled electrical components

1. Connect the auxiliary terminal to the earth of the component to be tested.
2. Make contact with the plus pole of the component using the test tip and then press the (+) of the
rocker switch to activate the component.
