1 Operating Instruction for Powermax filter pumps 1200Fi / 2200Fi
Powermax filter pumps
Ubbink Powermax filter pumps are high-quality products based on latest technologies. They are suitable for use in garden ponds and can be combined with pond filter systems, like
Ubbink BioPressure or FiltraClear.
The pumps use synchronous technology.
1) Safety instructions
• The power supply must meet the product specifications. Please contact your local electricity supplier regarding connection regulations. Do not connect the pump or the power
supply cable, if these do not meet the specified regulations!
• The PowermaxFi pump must be connected to an earthing contact socket according to European safety standards. The electric circuit must include an earth fault current switch
(Fi-protective switch/30mA). Further information is available from your local electricity specialist.
• The pump must not be operated if persons are in the pool/pond.
• Never use the cable for carrying the pump and never pull the pump out of the pond by the cable.
• Never remove the plug by cutting it off the cable and never shorten the cable. In case of not observing this, your guarantee becomes invalid!
• Make sure that plug and socket are dry before start-up.
• Always switch off the power supply for maintenance work at the pond or for cleaning the pump.
• This pump is suitable for pumping water of a maximum temperature up to 35 °C.
• Replacement of the cable is not possible. Should the cable get damaged, the pump must be disposed of.
• The pump must not be operated without water. This could lead to irreparable damages.
2) Application
• All PowermaxFi-pumps are equipped with an economical, extra-ordinary powerful and very reliable low-noise motor. Adjustable legs provide optimum alignment of the pump.
• Suitable for continuous operation.
• As all PowermaxFi pumps have a ceramic shaft, they are also suitable for use in sea water.
3) Start-up
• Please read the operating instruction thoroughly.
• Never operate the pump dry, i.e. without a water flow.
• Install the pump at least 30 cm and maximum 100 cm below water level on a stable base, free from sludge and other impurities.
• Screw the attachment to the pressure nozzle on the side.
4) Maintenance and cleaning
The pump needs neither lubrication nor special maintenance work. Only check the inlet gaps in the filter housing occasionally for dirt and, possibly, clean these with clean water.
• In case of bad soiling it is recommended disassembling the pump (see also drawing on page 2 of this operating instruction):
a) Remove the hose connection.
b) Loosen the nipple from the pressure nozzle of the pump. Press the click-on lock on the rear side (figure 1) and loosen the top part of the filter housing from the bottom part
(figure 2).
c) You can now clean the outside of the pump motor housing.
d) Loosen the four screws at the motor part (figure 3) for cleaning the inside and the rotor.
e) Re-assemble the pump in reverse order after cleaning.
• The frequency of necessary cleaning depends on the respective application situation, as well as the soiling degree of your pond.
• Take care in winter that the pump does not freeze up. It is best storing it during winter in a pail of water in a frost-free location.
5) Cleaning/replacing the rotor
• Proceed as described under point 4 from (a) to (d).
• Clean the rotor with a soft cloth and never use a (chemical) cleaning agent
• Avoid damaging the ceramic shaft.
• You can pull apart the single pieces of the motor and clean after loosening the screws (figure 4).
• If necessary, replace the whole motor together with the magnet (one complete part) (figures 5).
