BATTERY CARE AND RECONDITIONING
Nickel Cadmium Batteries benefit from a
regular and controlled Charging and
Reconditioning process. Batteries should be
used until the Low Battery alert is activated
and then allowed to rest at 25 deg C (room
temperature) for at least one hour before
Charging. Charging should be carried out in
a Motorola Charger and the Battery should
be removed once Charge cycle is complete.
For a Battery discharged to Low Battery
alert this will typically be Four (4) hours.
Reconditioning should be performed at least
once after every 100 Charge / Discharge
cycles, typically once per 3 months for a
Personal Issue type role. Where Radios and
Batteries are pooled this period should be
reduced to no more than once per month.
Reconditioning should in its simplest form
be a Charge Discharge Charge cycle, which
can be performed using Motorola Chargers
and Radios. Specialist Reconditioning
Equipment is available which automates this
procedure and provides additional data
such as Capacity readout. Contact your
Motorola representative for details on the
Battery Optimizing System.
