4. Installation

a) Smoke Liquid
• Please use non-inflammable water-based smoke fluid without oil or grease, such as VDLSL1 (1 litre), VDLSL5 (5
litres), or VDLSL5H (5 litres high density smoke liquid).
• Non-recommended smoke liquid may damage the machine and void the warranty.
1. Unplug the device from the mains.
2. Unscrew the cap from the tank.
3. Carefully pour smoke liquid into the tank, keeping the level below the "Maximum" mark at the back.
4. Reposition the cap on the tank.
Remark: Do not operate the device when the tank is open.
b) Fuse
• Only fit or replace a fuse when the device is unplugged from the mains.
• Replace a blown fuse with a fuse of the same type and rating (see "7. Technical Specifications" on p.3):
1. Unplug the device from the mains.
2. Unscrew the fuse holder at the back with an appropriate screwdriver.
3. Remove the old fuse and install a new one.
4. Replace the fuse holder and fasten it with the screwdriver.
c) Mounting the Device
• Have the device installed by a qualified person, respecting EN 60598-2-17 and all other applicable norms.
• The construction to which the device is attached should be able to support 10 times the weight of the device for
one hour without deformation.
• The installation must always be secured with a secondary attachment e.g. a safety cable.
• Never stand directly below the device when it is being mounted, removed or serviced. Have a qualified technician
check the device once a year and once before you bring it into service.
• Install the device in a location with few passers-by that is inaccessible to unauthorised persons.
• Overhead mounting requires extensive experience: calculating workload limits, determining the installation
material to be used... Have the material and the device itself checked regularly. Do not attempt to install the
device yourself if you lack these qualifications as improper installation may result in injuries.
• Adjust the desired inclination angle via the mounting bracket and tighten the bracket screws.
• Make sure there is no flammable material within a 50cm radius of the device.
• Have a qualified electrician carry out the electric connection.
• Connect the device to the mains with the power plug. Don't connect it to a dimming pack.
• The installation has to be approved by an expert before the device is taken into service.
5. Use
Connect the device to the mains and flick the power switch at the back of the device to ON. After the warm-up time
(approx. 4 minutes) the device is ready for use. The remote control is equipped with 2 rotary controls and 3
pushbuttons with corresponding LEDs:
• the "duration" rotary control allows to determine the duration of each activation
• the "interval" rotary control allows to determine the interval between activations
• the yellow pushbutton activates operation with interval
• the red pushbutton activates or deactivates the remote control
• the third button selects continuous smoke output. It may happen that the stand-by lamp on the remote control is
off and the smoke emission stops, even while you are holding the button. It means the device is warming up again
and will be ready in approx. 2 minutes. This process guarantees an appropriate vaporization temperature and the
best smoke emission possible.
