Instructions
CAUTION: Prior to using this product, read these instructions and keep them in a safe place
for future reference.
CAUTION: This product is designed for external examination only.
This product is a smartphone-compatible magnifier designed to allow skin lesion photography
with high magnification and clarity. It may be attached to a smartphone using one of the includ-
ed adapters, positioned over the smartphone's camera, and placed on a skin area of concern.
Directions for Use
CAUTION: Do not look directly into the bright LED light. Patients must close their eyes during
facial use.
IMPORTANT: Before initial use, please charge the device for a minimum of 1 hour. See "Bat-
tery & Charging" for details.
This product includes a DermLite lens (DL) and two different types of adapters compatible
with various smartphones. If the included iPhone Case (iPC) will not slide onto your iPhone,
as shown in Fig 1., choose the Universal Mount (UM), which is designed to fit on virtually any
smartphone 2.3"- 3.1" (58-78mm) in width. For best results, you may choose to remove any
case you have on your smartphone.
Universal Mount
To attach the Universal Mount (UM) to your smartphone, place it over the back of your phone
and firmly squeeze the Mount Clamps (MC) together. Move the Slide Lock (SL) into the locked
position to hold the Mount Clamps (MC) in place. Plug the DermLite Lens (DL) into the Derm-
Lite Mount (DM). Slide the DermLite Mount (DM) left or right such that the DermLite Lens (DL)
is horizontally centered over your phone's camera. To center the DermLite Lens (DL) vertically
over the phone's camera, move the Slide Lock (SL) into the unlocked position, and loosen the
Mount Clamps (MC). Adjust the vertical position such that DermLite Lens (DL) is vertically cen-
tered over your phone's camera. Squeeze the Mounts Clamps (MC) firmly together and move
the Slide Lock (SL) into the locked position to hold the Mount Clamp (MC) securely in place.
Taking a Picture
Once you have chosen a spot to photograph, lightly moisten it and its surrounding skin with
hand sanitizer or similar liquid. This increases the translucency of the skin and improves the
quality of the image. With this product attached to your smartphone, place the black spacer (S)
directly on the skin and push the power button (P) to turn on the DermLite Lens (DL). Capture
the image with your smartphone. Should your smartphone focus on the hair instead of the skin
surface, reapply moisture to flatten the hair or shave the area.
Battery & Charging
CAUTION: This product uses a special lithium battery, which can only be purchased from 3Gen
or from an authorized 3Gen dealer. Do not under any circumstances use another battery other
than the one designed for this unit. Doing so could result in damage to the unit.
To conserve energy, this product is designed to automatically turn off after 1 minute, and the
battery can be expected to supply power for about 30 one-minute sessions. If it shuts off prior
