Notes on maintenance work

Service products

The engine oil and coolant are important, integral
design factors which affect the operation and service life of
the engine. They must, therefore, be constantly optimised
in accordance with the engine's most up-to-date technical
quality standard.
For this reason, only service products that have been
tested and approved by DaimlerChrysler may be used.
These are listed with their brand names in the Mercedes-
Benz Specifications for Service Products.
Information is available from any Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre.

Valve clearance

The valve clearance must be adjusted during the first
maintenance service and then during the 3rd, 5th, 7th
maintenance services and so on (see page 17).

Coolant

The coolant is a mixture of water and corrosion
inhibitor/antifreeze.
For directives concerning coolant, please see the
Mercedes-Benz Specifications for Service Products.
When the coolant is renewed, this should be confirmed
by an entry on page 29.
