Commissioning

Operating components
The device has the following buttons with the following fun-
ctions:
On: Turns on remote control.
start/stop: Starts ONLINE mode. Stops the stirring
mechanism (rotational speed 0).
mod: Selects the mode for adjusting operating
parameters.
: Adjusts the target speed or the operating
parameters.
: Adjusts the target speed or the operating
parameters.
Working with remote control
1) Switching on
Plug the adapter cable into the socket on the rear side of
the remote control unit (make certain that the plug snaps
into place) and plug the other side of the adapter cable into
the RS 232 socket on the stirring mechanism.
Next, the stirring mechanism can be turned on with the
main switch and the remote control unit can be turned on
by pressing the On button.
After a brief self-test, OFF (no actual speed value present)
appears in the large display. OFF also appears in the small
display (no target speed value assigned) (OFFLINE opera-
ting mode).
2) Switching off
The remote control unit automatically switches off in OFF-
LINE mode after a preset amount of time. In ONLINE or
REMOTE operating mode, remote control is always turned
on. The power consumption when remote control is turned
off is less than the rate at which the batteries or recharge-
able cells in the unit discharge by themselves.

3) Checking and changing the settings
Before establishing communication with a stirring mecha-
nism, it is a good idea to check the settings on the remote
control unit.
The following settings are possible:
a) P1: Type of stirring mechanism: Eurostar control,
Eurostar control P4 or Eurostar control P7 (the adju-
stable minimum and maximum speeds are assigned
on this basis).
b) P2: Automatic switching off after 1, 5 or 10 minutes,
or turned on continuously (ON).
To switch into the mode for changing settings, press the
mod button and hold it down (for about 3 seconds). P1 then
appears in the display, followed by the currently set stirring
mechanism type. (EST: Eurostar control, EP4: Eurostar con-
trol P4, EP7: Eurostar control P4). You can use the
buttons to change the type that is currently set.
To exit this operating mode, press and hold down the mod
button again. To query the setting for the switch-off time,
press the mod button briefly.
When you do this, P2 is displayed briefly followed by the
switch-off time of 1, 5 or 10 minutes. Another option avai-
lable is to select the ON setting. If you do this, there will be
no automatic switch-off.
The start button does not work while you are changing the
settings (MODE operating mode). You can exit the MODE
operating mode as described above.
The settings you have selected remain in effect even after
you have turned off the remote control unit.
4) Querying and displaying the actual speed value and
target speed value of the stirring mechanism (ONLINE
mode)
Pressing the start button initiates communication with the
