5 Setup

Installation

Install the unit on a plane surface or in your rack. For 19" (483 mm) rack installation, 1 unit is required. When
mounting the unit into the rack, please make sure that there is enough space around the device so that the
heated air can be passed on. Steady overheating will damage your device. You can fix the unit with four
screws M6 in the rack.

Cable connections

The mixer offers various possibilities for balanced or unbalanced connection of professional audio
equipment. To avoid interfering noise, switch off the mixer or set the output controls to minimum prior to
connecting and disconnecting equipment. Be sure to use only high-grade cables. The illustrations below
show the wiring of these cables.

1) Connect microphones to the balanced XLR jacks. For phantom-powered microphones switch on the
phantom power. For this, set the individual switch to the lower position ON.
Caution!
If phantom power is switched on, no unbalanced microphones or devices with line level must be
connected to the corresponding inputs. Otherwise, these devices may be damaged. During the
stabilization phase (approx. 1 minute), you must not connect or disconnect any microphones. To prevent
switching noise, only switch on phantom power when the mixer is switched off or when all output controls
are set to minimum.
2) Connect units with line level to the unbalanced 6.3 mm jacks (e.g. CD player, tuner, etc.).
3) A PA amplifier for speakers or a subsequent unit with line level can be connected to the balanced
6.3 mm jack MAIN OUT.
4) Finally, connect the mixer to the mains via the power cable provided.
