5. You can select from any of the 20 available styles by clicking on the buttons to the
left of the keyboard's screen. The screen will display the name of the Style
associated with each button when the mouse hovers over the button. If the mouse
isn't over the Style buttons, the screen displays the currently selected Style (which,
by default, is Blues).
3.2. Recording a Melody
Once you are happy with your Chord Track, the next step is to record a melody.
Set the Melody to recording mode by clicking the button above the word Melody until
it says rec and the LED is red.
1. Press the Start button and recording commences and at the same time your chord
track plays.
2. For the easiest possible way to play use one of Sound Studio's major features -
Playrite. Press the Playrite button (LED is red) and try strumming the keyboard
like a guitar, running your fingers up and down the keyboard in a sweeping
fashion.
3. To stop recording click on the Stop button. Your recording will appear as a block
on the screen with a graphic showing the notes you have pressed.
4. You can listen to what was recorded by selecting Play and clicking the button.
Wow, not a single note wrong!!
5. To view the musical notation just press the score button or F5 (Function key 5).
You can also print out your musical masterpiece.
3.3. Web Music
To save your composition in a universal format which can also be used on the internet,
make a MIDI file by first selecting the 'Chords to MIDI Track' option from the function
menu (situated top left of the main window). You will have the option of converting to
multiple tracks, but you don't have to do this. Then, all you have to do is to select 'Save
As' from the File menu, and select 'MIDI Files' in the File Type box in the bottom left
corner of the Save dialogue box. You can then use this file on your web site or use in
most other music programs !
3.4. Extended uses for Sound Studio
Evolution Sound Studio is a fully featured music creation and production program
which even allows for video to be displayed together with music. Load demo.sng to get
a better idea of the fantastic possibilities of this comprehensive software designed for
the serious musician and the beginner alike. Press Ctrl + F7 to use the transport bar for
extended features and to play the demo song file.
