Getting Started with the Evolution Music Creator 49 & 61
Each program's online help contains a full user's manual which can be printed out if needed.
Congratulations on the purchase of your Evolution Music Creator package, which consists
of Sound Studio, Music Teacher, Song Player, Key West PC software packages and the
Evolution MIDI Controller keyboard. We hope you will enjoy many hours of musical fun
with your Evolution Music Creator package. The connections for the MK-149 and MK- 261
differ but the software is common between both keyboards.
1a. Connecting the MK-149 to your PC - with supplied self powered cable
Connect the MK-149 to your PC using the supplied cable. The 15pin D-connector on the
cable should connect to your PCs sound cards Game/Joystick port, and the round 5pin plug
connects to the MIDI OUT socket on the back of the MK-149.
1b. Connecting the MK-149 using external power supply (not supplied)
The MK-149 does not have to be connected to a PC via the supplied self-powered cable. It
can also be connected simply to any other MIDI hardware (e.g. a MIDI module) using a
standard MIDI cable (not supplied). When the MK-149 is being used in this way, you will
also need a power supply (not supplied 9-12v DC 300 mA) to power the keyboard.
