Test the program by pressing a key towards the right side on your MK-261. If all is well
the corresponding key will display on the on-screen keyboard and you should also hear a
piano note. If you do not hear or see anything refer to the troubleshooting section of this
guide.
3.1. Getting Started
You should now be ready to start creating your first musical masterpiece with Sound
Studio.
Using Sound Studio, it is easy to create a big sound with very little effort using the built-in
styles. You can use these styles to also create full MIDI files. The onscreen keyboard and
the MK261 music keyboard make up your Virtual Keyboard.
You can play Chords using the lower part of the music keyboard. The onscreen keys will
light up in blue, and the Style will begin to play. To stop press the onscreen keyboard Stop
button.
1. Click the Intro, Fill 1, Fill 2 or Outro buttons to change the Style Variation.
2. To record a Chord sequence click on the button below the Chord area until rec. (for
recording) is displayed and the LED is red. Now, when you play a chord, recording
commences and continues until you press the Stop button. Space bar is another
method of stopping.
3. You can now listen to the Chord Sequence by clicking on the Start button or by
hitting the [Return] key on your PC keyboard, one of the many shortcuts available to
you. (Full details in the help text).
4. If you aren't happy with the Chord Sequence, it is easy to create a new sequence. All
you need to do is to set the Chord back into rec. mode and start again. The original
sequence will be replaced.
