Note: To reduce the risk of electric shock due to faulty equipment, the RS232 interface must be connected to
a medical/IT device that meets the requirements of IEC 60601-1.

Maintenance

Have a trained service person replace the battery.
Emergency
Blood Pump Failure
An unusual grinding or chattering sound indicates pump failure is occurring. Replace the Affinity CP
centrifugal blood pump immediately.
Mechanical Failure
An unusual or high-pitched sound indicates that drive failure is occurring. Replace the External Drive Motor
immediately.
Power Failure
If the AC or battery power fails, or the external drive motor or controller stops functioning, connect the
Affinity CP centrifugal blood pump to the Emergency Handcrank HC150A. Turn the handle in the direction of
the arrows on the handcrank to provide manual power.
Emergency Handcrank HC150A
The Emergency Handcrank HC150A connects to an Affinity CP centrifugal blood pump and provides manual
power should the AC power or battery power fail, or the external drive motor or controller stop functioning.
Manual power to the pump is achieved by turning the handle.
The handcrank has an LED display calibrated for the centrifugal pump speed to indicate the rpm of the
centrifugal blood pump. The centrifugal blood pump speed does not directly correlate to flow rate.
The handcrank may be operated from either the right or left side by turning the mounting adapter 180 degrees.
Turn the handle in the direction of the arrows on the handcrank.
Note: If the handle is turned in the opposite direction, the centrifugal blood pump pumps at a reduced
efficiency, and the speed display does not illuminate.

Functional Inspection
To ensure that the handcrank is accurate and operational, inspect it visually and functionally every month.
1. Place an Affinity CP centrifugal blood pump that is attached to a primed circuit into the pump receptacle
of the handcrank.
2. Turn the handcrank handle to ensure that the magnets couple.
