Cleaning and maintenance

Cleaning
Before beginning any work, pay attention to
the safety instructions in the section Safety
instructions (page 14)!
1.
Clean the permanent filter under running
water and the glass jug and the filter insert in
warm dishwater after each use.
2.
The thermos jug must also be cleaned
after each use: pour a little dishwater into the
jug and clean the inside with a soft brush.
Wipe the outside of the thermos jug with a
damp cloth. The thermos jug may not be put
into or immersed into dishwater.
3.
If required, clean the coffee bean com-
partment (2) and its lid (1) with a damp cloth.
4.
Wipe the housing with a damp cloth. Use
washing-up liquid to remove any stubborn
stains.
NOTE
The thermos jug is NOT suitable for
dishwashers and the same applies to the
lid of the coffee bean compartment, filter
insert, permanent filter, spoon and cleaning
brush.
The glass jug may be cleaned in
the dishwasher.
Cleaning the grinder shaft
(images C1, C2)
It is possible that the grinder shaft can be-
come blocked during the grinding process. In
this case, clean the grinder shaft (14):
1.
Press the locking button (on the
a pointed object (e.g., a ball point pen) and
pull the lid forwards (image C1).
2.
Push in the cleaning brush (18, image
as far as possible to clean the grinder shaft
(14).

Press the locking button and push the lid
back onto the grinder shaft.
4.
Brew 10 cups of coffee using the grinder
as described in the section Brewing coffee
with coffee beans (page 20), in order to re-
move the rest from the grinder shaft.
5.
Pour the coffee away.
Replacing the activated carbon filter
An activated carbon filter is located in the
water tank in order to protect the appliance
against calcium scaling. The activated carbon
filter should be replaced after brewing roughly
70 times.
1.
Remove the holder for the activated car-
bon filter (15) from the water tank (13).
2.
Open the compartment flap (16) and re-
move the old activated carbon filter (image
C3).
3.
Remove the new activated carbon filter
(17) from its plastic packaging and thoroughly
rinse under running water in order to remove
any potential production residues.
4.
Insert the new activated carbon filter into
the holder and close the compartment flap.
5.
Insert the activated carbon filter (15) into
the recess in the water tank (image C4).
NOTE
Activated carbon filters are available
on our homepage or on request from our
customer service.
In order not to impair the service life of the
appliance and the quality of the coffee, the
appliance has to be descaled at regular inter-
vals. The descaling intervals depend on the
water hardness. We recommend descaling
every 6 weeks.
1.
Remove the activated carbon filter holder
from the water tank. Fill the water tank with
water to the 10 mark with citric acid or vin-
) with
egar essence (approximately 5 % acidic solu-
tion).
