Operating Instructions
Read and understand these instructions before installing, operating,
or maintaining the equipment.
DANGER
!
Hazardous voltage.
Will cause death or serious injury.
Disconnect power before working on equipment.
CAUTION
Reliable functioning of the equipment is only ensured with
certified components.
Important note
The products described here were developed to assume safety-related functions
within a system or machine. A complete safety-related system usually includes sen-
sors, evaluation units, signaling devices and concepts for ensuring safe switch-off.
The manufacturer of the system or machine is responsible for ensuring the correct
overall functioning. Siemens AG, its branch offices and associated companies (here-
inafter "Siemens") cannot guarantee all properties of a system or machine not de-
signed by Siemens. Siemens can also not assume liability for recommendations giv-
en or implied by the following description. No new guarantee/warranty or liability
claims in excess of the general terms and conditions of Siemens can be deduced from
the following description.
Areas of Application
The position switches described here are suitable for use in Zone 22 locations where
there is a danger of explosion (device group II, device category 3D).
Installation (for dimension drawings, see Figure I, Dimensions in mm)
To be mounted on level surfaces using:
Always add washers and spring washers.
Tightening torque for enclosure cover screws:
Any mounting position possible.

Cable Entries
NOTICE
Only cable entries that comply with the requirements of EN 50014 may be used. The
cable entries must be constructed and mounted such that the degree of protection
according to DIN VDE 0470 and IEC 60529 is not impeded. Cable entries that are
not used must be closed using the supplied screw plugs.
The required torque is 1.1 Nm.
2 M5 screws
Changeover mechanism for 3SE.120- (refer to Fig. IV)
1.0 to1.2 Nm
Order Nos. 3SY3110 and 3SY3027. Mount intermediate plate (b) on the position
switch (a). Install base plate (c) at the mounting location. Put the position switch into
place and lock it by means of the interlocking lever (d).
Other possible modes of operation
The drives must not be swapped for other types of drives and must not be used to
3SE2...-.B...
change the direction of actuation.
3SE2...-.C...
The roller crank or rod actuator can be offset on the drive shaft by 10 ° to 10 ° and
3SE2...-.D...
turned around by 180 ° (screw must be loosened).
3SE2...-.E...
Securing against position change (fixing)
3SE2...-.F...
If used as a safety position switch, positive fixing is required. If fixed by means of ob-
3SE2...-.GW...
long holes, locating pins or fixing pads must additionally be used.
3SE2...-.WW...
Protection against actuation and overriding
3SE2...-.R...
Position switches should be arranged so that they will not be damaged during actua-
3SE2...-.T...
tion and overriding. They must therefore not be used as a mechanical stop. The
3SE2...-XX...
height of the skate or the cam should be less than the entire travel in the switch to
3SE2...-.UW...
avoid mechanical loading of the switch or its fixing arrangement
Maintenance
Replacing the switching insert
Remove the screws of the enclosure cover, lift the switching insert from the upper
edge with a screwdriver. Push the new insert onto the two spigots in the enclosure
until it reaches its stop position.
Tightening torque of the enclosure cover screws: 1.0 to 1.2 Nm.
NOTICE
For 3SE21.0-.XX: The actuator must be plugged in when replacing the switch-
ing insert
