Normal Use

• The voltage buffer circuit prevents things such as flickering
lights and sound dropouts caused by things such as dirty
areas of track.
• The voltage buffer circuit is designed solely for installation in
a locomotive with a built-in 60972 mLD3 decoder or a 60975 /
60976 / 60977 mSD3 decoder.
• The mLD3 and mSD3 decoders must have firmware version
3.2.0.1 or higher. On older versions, an update must be done to
the current firmware version.

Safety Notes

• IMPORTANT! This product has sharp edges and points related
to its function.
• Do wiring and assembly work only in a voltage-free work
environment. Otherwise you may experience electrical current
dangerous to the body leading to injury.

Important Information

• Important: When installing the circuit, avoid as much as
possible touching components on the voltage buffer circuit
board. Static charges can destroy this circuit board.
• After track voltage is turned on, a discharged voltage buffer
requires approximately 20 seconds until it is fully charged.
• The operating instructions are a component part of the
product and must therefore be kept with the product,
particularly when it is given to another party.
• For repairs please see your authorized Märklin specialty
dealer.

Functions

• Capable of multi-protocols (fx (MM), mfx, DCC, and AC/DC).
• Changes to characteristics can be done with CVs.

Installation

The following work steps may only be done in a voltage-free
work environment:
• The plug on the end of the cable for the voltage buffer circuit
board must be plugged into the SUSI interface for the mLD3 /
mSD3 decoder. See Page 20.
• The SUSI bus can then be transmitted to the SUSI interface
(white socket) on the voltage buffer circuit board. However,
several 60974 voltage buffer circuit boards may not be wired
in one behind the other!

CV Programming

The CVs for the voltage buffer circuit are programmed for the
most frequent applications. If a change in the CVs is necessary,
they are programmed in the locomotive decoder into which the
voltage buffer circuit is plugged. The procedure for programming
the CVs in the locomotive decoder can be found in the instruc-
tions for that decoder.
The CVs for the voltage buffer circuit can only be changed in
the protocols mfx and DCC. In the mfx protocol easily by means
of the display on the CS2 (Software Version 4.2.4 and higher) /
CS3 (Software Version 1.3.2 and higher). The CVs are shown for
DCC as follows in the table. Since CVs 256 to 512 are occupied
in several instances, the CVs in the table can only be accessed
when CV31=18 and CV32=1. Values in parentheses are the
factory settings.
