reaction of the chainsaw which frequently
severely injures workers or persons in the vicinity.
Major risks of a kickback exist if you use the saw
with the saw bar tip. This causes the utmost
leverage effect. Therefore, you should always
position the saw at a flat angle.
Attention!
- Make sure that the chain is always appropriately
tensioned!
- Only use impeccable chainsaws!
- Work with a correctly-sharpened saw chain!
- Never cut with the upper edge or the tip of the
saw bar!
- Always hold the chainsaw tightly with both
hands!
Cutting wood which is under tension
Cutting wood which is under tension requires
particular attention! Wood which is under tension
and from which tension is released by cutting
sometimes reacts in an uncontrolled manner. This
may result in severe injury or even in death. Only
trained specialists are allowed to carry out such
work.
10. Pole-mounted trimmer -

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES

Never stand directly under the branch which you
are trimming. Always stay outside the area of
falling branches. (B24)
When using the pole-mounted trimmer, never
stand on a ladder or any other kind of unstable
pedestal.
Hold the saw with both hands during operation.
Apply firm and steady pressure to the pole-
mounted trimmer during the cutting process.
Never apply force in order to cut the saw through
the wood.
Never use the pole-mounted trimmer to cut
branches with a diameter which is larger than the
length of the saw guide. (B25)
When using the pole-mounted trimmer, make
sure that people in the vicinity keep a safe
distance from the working area. (B26)
Do not use the pole-mounted trimmer in the
vicinity of cables and power or telephone lines.
Keep a minimum distance of 10 meters to all
power lines. (B27)
Remove branches, copses and cut wood.
Be aware of falling branches! Immediately
step aside and keep enough distance from the
falling branch as soon as it starts breaking.
Always use the carrying strap and hold the saw
with both hands with the handles provided. (B28)
Close your fingers and your thumb around the
handles and the pole.
Press position A (see B29) in case of emergency.
In this way, the carrying strap will be released.

11 MAINTENANCE

11.1 Replacing saw chain and saw bar
The saw bar must be replaced if
- the guide groove of the saw bar is worn out.
- the spur gear of the saw bar is damaged or worn
out.
Proceed with maintenance work according to the
information provided in the chapter "Assembly of
saw bar and saw chain"!
