10. Pole-mounted trimmer -

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES

Never stand directly under the branch which you
are trimming. Always stay outside the area of
falling branches. (B13)
When using the pole-mounted trimmer, never
stand on a ladder or any other kind of unstable
pedestal. (B14)
Hold the saw with both hands during operation.
Apply firm and steady pressure to the pole-
mounted trimmer during the cutting process.
Never apply force in order to cut the saw through
the wood.
Never use the pole-mounted trimmer to cut
branches with a diameter which is larger than the
length of the saw guide.
When using the pole-mounted trimmer, make
sure that people in the vicinity keep a safe
distance from the working area (B15).
Do not use the pole-mounted trimmer in the
vicinity of cables and power or telephone lines.
Keep a minimum distance of 10 meters to all
power lines. (B16)
11. Remove branches, copses and cut
wood.
Be aware of falling branches! Immediately
step aside and keep enough distance from the
falling branch as soon as it starts breaking.
-When debranching trees, the saw must be
held at an angle of max. 60° with respect to the
horizontal line. This is to avoid being hit by falling
branches. (B17)
- Cut the lower branches of the tree first. In this
way, cut branches can fall more easily.
- After having completed the cutting process, the
weight of the saw increases immediately for the
operator as the saw is no longer supported by
the branch. There is a risk of losing control of the
saw.
- Pull out the saw from the cut with the saw chain
running. This is to avoid jamming.
- Do not cut with the tip of the saw bar.
- Do not cut the thick part of the branches where
they come out of the tree trunk. This will affect
the wound healing of the tree.
- Cutting minor branches:
- Apply the abutting side of the saw to the
branch. This avoids jerky movements of the saw
when starting to cut. Move the saw from the top
downwards through the branch applying some
pressure.
- Cutting major and longer branches (B18):
- Make a relief cut when cutting major branches.
- First, cut 1/3 of the branch diameter with the
upper side of the saw bar from the bottom to
the top (1). Then cut with the lower side of the
saw bar towards the first cut from the top to the
bottom (2). Cut longer branches in sections in
order to become aware of the spot where they
hit the ground.

12. MAINTENANCE

12.1 Replacing saw chain and saw bar

- the guide groove of the saw bar is worn out.
- the spur gear of the saw bar is damaged or worn
