When you want a special effect on the picture, or shoot a
person with a bright sky in the background, or if you shoot a
subject with high contrast, adjust the iris manually

Set the I switch to M.

Turn the iris ring.
To open the iris, turn counterclockwise. To close the
iris, turn clockwise.

Adjusting Automatically

The lens is factory-set to adjust the iris automatically
according to the brightness of the subject. Also, the lens
adjusts the iris automatically when the I switch is set to A.
