Before s tarting w ork on t he w alls, c eilings or f loors, c heck t hat t here ar e n o
concealed cables or conduits. Use a l ive wire detector, or ask an electrician for
help. Failure to observe these instructions could result in the risk of fire, explosion,
electric shock, personal injury and/or material damage.
•
Avoid accident starting. Switch off the tool if the power supply is disconnected, e.g.
as a result of a power cut or if the power cord is pulled out.
•
Secure the workpiece, Secure workpiece with clamps or in a vice. Never hold the
workpiece with your hand.
•
Do not us e s andpaper i ntended for l arger s anding pads. L arger s andpaper w ill
extend b eyond t he s anding pad c ausing snagging, t earing of the paper o r
kick-back. Extra paper extending beyond the sanding pad can also cause serious
lacerations.
WARNING
Some dus t c reated by pow er s anding, s awing, grinding, dr illing, and o ther
construction activities contains chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or
other reproductive harm. Some examples of these chemicals are:
- lead from lead-based paints,
- crystalline silica from bricks and cement and other masonry products, and
- arsenic and chromium from chemically-treated lumber.
Your risk from these exposures varies, depending on how often you do this type of
work. To reduce your exposure to these chemicals: work in a well ventilated area,
and w ork w ith appr oved safety equipment, s uch as t hose dus t m asks that are
specially designed to filter out microscopic particles.
Contact with or inhalation of these dusts can endanger the health of operator and
bystanders
ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
•
Keep your hands away from the cutting area and bl ade. If you hold the tool with
both hands, they cannot come into contact with the blade.
•
Do not put your hands under the workpiece. Contact with the blade could cause
personal injury.
•
Start the tool before applying the blade to the workpiece. If the blade jams it can
slip or kick back form the workpiece when the tool start.
•
Never hold the work piece in your hands or across your legs. Secure the workpiece
on a stable surface. It is important to support the workpiece properly so that body
contact is minimised, the blade does not jam, and you do not lose control.
•
Make sure there are no nails, screws or other foreign objects in the workpiece.
•
Do not use blunt or damaged blades. Blades with blunt or damaged teeth produce
more friction, which can cause the blade to jam and increase the risk of kickback.
•

cannot s ee w hat l ies behind. The pr otruding bl ade may s trike o bjects t hat c an
cause kickback.
•
Keep the work area clean. The mixing of dust from different material is especially
dangerous. Dust from light metals, e.g. aluminium, can ignite or explode.
