Operating instructions
Carbon monoxide detector
Item No. 1697472
Intended use
This carbon monoxide detector is only designed and certified for detecting carbon monoxide (CO) in private
households! It must not be used in industrial facilities, offices, boats, caravans or motorhomes! The carbon
monoxide detector detects carbon monoxide (CO) at low concentrations. It features a dual alarm that is
triggered by high ambient concentrations of carbon monoxide. The alarm consists of a sound generator
that emits acoustic signals and a flashing LED indicator. The carbon monoxide detector is designed to alert
people to carbon monoxide leaks and protect against the acute effects of carbon monoxide. However, it
cannot prevent chronic health damage caused by prolonged exposure to low levels of carbon monoxide
below the detection threshold. Similarly, it cannot provide full protection for people in special risk groups. The
product is powered by 3x 1.5 V AA batteries.
This product is intended for indoor use only. Do not use it outdoors. Contact with moisture (e.g. in bathrooms)
must be avoided under all circumstances.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. Using the product for
purposes other than those described above may damage the product. In addition, improper use can cause
hazards such as a short circuit or fire. Read the instructions carefully and store them in a safe place. Only
make this product available to third parties together with its operating instructions.
This product complies with statutory, national and European regulations. All company and product names are

Safety information
Read the operating instructions and safety information carefully. If you do not follow the
safety information and information on proper handling in these operating instructions,
we will assume no liability for any resulting personal injury or damage to property. Such
cases will invalidate the warranty/guarantee.
a) General information
• The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may become dangerous playing
material for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high humidity,
moisture, flammable gases, vapours and solvents.
• Never expose the product to mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, stop using it and prevent unauthorised
use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stress.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height may
damage the product.
• Consult a technician if you are not sure how to use or connect the product, or if you have
concerns about safety.
• Maintenance, modifications and repairs must be carried out by a technician or a specialist
repair centre.
• If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions, contact our
technical support service or other technical personnel.
b) Persons and product
• Do not use the product if it was subjected to an impact or otherwise damaged.
• Do not attempt to open or repair the carbon monoxide detector, as this will void the guarantee.
• Avoid using spray cans next to the detector.
• The carbon monoxide detector must not be painted or covered with wallpaper!
• Do not cover the carbon monoxide detector.
• People with certain conditions may not be sufficiently protected. If in doubt, consult a doctor
for more information.
• This device must not be used in place of a ventilation system for combustion appliances
(boiler or thermal baths).
• 2x dowels
• Operating instructions
• The following substances may affect the sensor and lead to incorrect measurements:
Methane, propane, isobutane, isopropyl, ethylene, ethanol, benzene, ethyl acetate, toluene,
acetic acid, ethyl acetate, hydrogen, hydrogen sulphide, sulphur dioxide, propellants, alcohol-
based products, paints, thinners, solvents, glues, hair sprays, shampoos, aftershave (e.g.
Zegna Intenso Balm), perfume and some cleaning agents and car exhaust fumes.
• Do not attempt to manipulate the detector in any way.
• The detector cannot prevent chronic health effects caused by prolonged exposure to low
levels of carbon monoxide below the detection threshold.
c) Battery information
• Ensure that you insert the batteries in the correct polarity.
• To prevent battery leakage, remove the batteries when you do not plan to use the product
for an extended period. Leaking or damaged batteries may cause acid burns if they come
into contact with your skin. Always use suitable protective gloves when handling damaged
batteries.
• Batteries must be kept out of the reach of children. Do not leave batteries lying around, as
there is a risk that children or pets may swallow them.
• All batteries must be replaced at the same time. Mixing old and new rechargeable batteries
can cause the batteries to leak and damage the product.
• Batteries must not be dismantled, short-circuited or thrown into flames. Never attempt to
charge non-rechargeable batteries, as this may cause an explosion!

Mounting
a) Mounting location
Choose a suitable location to install the carbon monoxide detector to ensure that it is able to perform its
functions reliably and as expected. The following instructions will help you to select an appropriate mounting
location.
• Install the carbon monoxide detector out of the reach of children. Children must not be able to access
the detector.
• Install the carbon monoxide detector in a bedroom or a corridor next to where you sleep. Ensure that you
will be able to hear the alarm under normal circumstances.
• In you live in a multi-story house, you are recommended to install a carbon monoxide detector on each
floor.
• Keep the device at least 1–3 m away from appliances that emit smoke.
• Install the device at eye level. This ensures that you will be able to monitor the red, yellow and green LED
indicators.
• Ensure that all the openings on the housing are accessible and not covered or blocked by walls or other
objects.
• Do not install the carbon monoxide detector in dead-air spaces, e.g. at the top of vaulted ceilings or gables,
otherwise the detector may not be able to detect concentrations of carbon monoxide due to gas distribution
in the rest of the room.
• Do not install the carbon monoxide detector in the air vortex of ceiling fans, other outlets or ventilators.
• Do not install the carbon monoxide detector next to fresh air inlets or doors and windows that lead to
outdoors.
• Do not install the carbon monoxide detector next to very dusty, dirty or oily areas, e.g. kitchens, workshops
and boiler rooms. Dust, grease and household chemicals may affect the carbon monoxide detector.
• Do not install the device in damp and steamy rooms, e.g. bathrooms.
• Do not install the carbon monoxide detector in rooms where the temperature may fall below -10 °C or
exceed 40 °C.
• Do not install the carbon monoxide detector behind curtains or furniture. Carbon monoxide must be able to
reach the detector without obstructions to ensure that the detector functions properly.
• Do not install the product on the floor, in water pipes or in ventilation ducts.
• Do not install the product near kitchen appliances.
• If you wish to install the carbon monoxide detector in a garage, ensure that the mounting location will not
come into direct contact with exhaust fumes from your vehicle. The carbon monoxide in the exhaust fumes
would trigger an alarm, even though there is no serious health threat when the engine is left running for
short periods.
• When mounting on the ceiling, always ensure that the detector is at least 1.5 m from room corners, walls
and large furniture.
• When mounting the detector to a wall, the detector must be higher than 1.5 m with a clearance of 30 cm
below the ceiling.
b) Wall mounting
Follow the steps below in the given order to mount the carbon monoxide detector to a wall:
• Remove the mounting plate (10) on the back of the carbon monoxide detector.
