4. AUDIO INPUTS

The HMA180 supports two types of signals on its input channels:
 Microphones: they have a Euroblock, jack or XLR balanced connection, which can support
a level of -20dBV to –50dBV, adjusting sensitivity through the ADJ control on the rear panel
The microphone inputs have Phantom power to power condenser microphones, activated by the
jumper (see 10. CONFIGURATION DIAGRAM section).
 Line signals: they have an unbalanced RCA double jack or minijack stereo connection.
They can support signals ranging from 0dBV to -15dBV, adjusting sensitivity through the
ADJ control on the rear panel. You can connect the signals of CD players, radio tuners,
mixing consoles, media players, the audio outputs of PCs and tablets, etc. to these
connections.
NOTE: Turntables CANNOT BE CONNECTED directly to this device because none of the inputs
have an RIAA preamp.

4.1. MIC1, MIC2, MIC3 inputs

These 3 microphone inputs can work simultaneously, so they can be mixed through their LEVEL
controls on the front panel and equalize the resulting mix with the TONE CONTROL, also on the front
panel, in the MICROPHONES section. The microphone mix playback volume (+ music source selected,
if any) will depend on the OUTPUT VOLUME of the unit.

4.2. PAGER input

This input is especially designed for connecting a microphone voice announcements console in
real-time, MPAGE1 or similar. This signal's input is injected into the device and it attenuates or mutes the
rest of the sound content sent to the device's output (music source selected + microphones), taking its
place and allowing the broadcast of the voice message with the desired clarity.
The playback volume of the message depends on the adjustment of the PAGER LEVEL control
on the front panel, with this being independent of the device's OUTPUT VOLUME, but on which the
listening of the rest of the signals depends (music source selected + microphones). However, the TONE
CONTROL of the MICROPHONES section also acts on the PAGER input.
The PAGER function can be triggered by automatic detection of the incoming audio signal level
or a change of status of an external contact connected to the PAGE control port in the CONTROL
INPUTS section. Refer to the 10. CONFIGURATION DIAGRAM section for more information on the
configuration options of this function using jumpers.
After activating the PAGER function, the CHIME micro-switches allow the initial playback of a
chime melody ("ding-dong") from three options, when one or both of the micro-switches is in the ON
position. The VOL control next to it allows you to adjust the volume of the melody, before the voice
message is played.
