mantled! It does not contain any internal parts that need to be adjusted or
maintained by you.
• Use the network switch only on the mains voltage (see "Technical Data").
• The product is not a toy. Keep devices that operate on the mains voltage out of the
reach of children. Therefore, be especially careful when children are around.
• The product is only intended for use in dry, indoor locations. No part of the product
should be allowed to become moist or wet, never take hold of it if your hands are

Plugging in a SFP Module
After disconnecting the switch from the mains voltage, slide a SFP module (not included, must be
ordered separately) into one of the slots on the switch. Please pay attention to the correct
orientation.
The network switch can then be reconnected via the power cable; plug the mains plug into the
mains socket.
Connection and Getting Started
The network switch can be installed or operated in different ways:
a) Setting up on a flat surface:
Place the network switch on a stable and flat surface. Bear in mind, when selecting the installation
position, easy access to the connections as well as the placing of the plugs for the network cables
so it is easy plug in.
b) Installed in a network rack:
First install the two mounting brackets, with the help of the 8 provided screws, on the network
switch. Then secure the product with 2 rack-mount screws (not included) on each side of your
network rack.
• Connect the switch to a power socket, using the power cable included in the package (for
voltage, see chapter "Technical Data"). Switch on the device with the switch on the back. The
power LED on the network switch lights up.
After a short self-test, the switch is ready for use.
• Connect the network switch's RJ45 network ports to the corresponding ports on your computer
(or with other devices with network connections, e.g. television, satellite receiver, games
consoles etc.).
• As soon as a device is connected to one of the ports and switched on, the corresponding
Link/Act LED lights up. This starts to blink during data transfer.
If a device supporting 1000MBit is connected to Port "9TX" or "10TX", the 1000M LED for the
corresponding port also lights up.
• Observe the operating instructions or other manufacturer's information for your SFP module
when connecting cables to it.
• When the product is taken from a cold to a warm room (e.g. during transport),
condensation may be produced. This could damage the product. This might cause
a lethal electric shock!
Therefore, you should allow the product to warm up to room temperature before use
or connecting the power cable to the mains voltage. This may take several hours.
• Before inserting or removing a SFP module in/from the corresponding slot on the
switch, the switch must be disconnected from the mains!
• Do not pull the power plug from the mains socket by pulling on the cable.
• If the power cable is damaged, do not touch it. Danger of a lethal electric shock!
Switch off the mains voltage to the mains socket to which the power cable is
connected (switch off at the corresponding circuit breaker or remove the safety fuse).
Then you can remove the mains plug from the mains socket. Dispose of the
damaged power cable in an environmentally friendly way, do not use it any more.
Replace it with a new power cable with the same specifications.
• The design of the product corresponds to protection class I. Only use a standard
earthed outlet as the voltage source (see chapter "Technical Data").
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. They may become dangerous
playthings for children.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer's
Liability Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Materials are
to be observed.
• In schools, educational centres, hobby and self-help workshops, the operation of
the product has to be supervised by trained employees.
• Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental
drops, even from a low height.
• If you have any questions that are not answered in this instruction manual, please
contact our technical support centre or consult a professional.
First, disconnect the network switch from the mains voltage (unplug the mains plug
from the mains socket).
Please note:
If a SFP module is plugged into the slot "9FX", the RJ45 port "9TX" cannot be used
anymore.
If a SFP module is plugged into the slot "10FX", the RJ45 port "10TX" cannot be used
anymore.
The supplied network switch possesses automatic uplink recognition for every port.
This enables an especially easy connection to other switches. A cross-link cable is
no longer required; you can use a conventional 1:1 connected network cable.
If a SFP module is plugged into slot "9FX" or "10FX", the RJ45 port "9TX" or "10TX"
must be used anymore.
