Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt ist zum Einbau in einen 3.5"-Einbauschacht des Gehäuses eines PC-
kompatiblen Computers vorgesehen und stellt dort zusätzliche USB-Ports zur
Verfügung.

Konfiguration
Einbau
Falls Sie keine Fachkenntnisse für den Einbau besitzen, so lassen Sie
den Einbau von einer FACHKRAFT oder einer entsprechenden
Fachwerkstatt durchführen!
Durch unsachgemässen Einbau wird sowohl die der USB-Hub als
auch Ihr Computer und alle angeschlossenen Geräte beschädigt.
Vorsicht, Lebensgefahr!
Schalten Sie den Computer, in den das Produkt eingebaut werden soll
und alle angeschlossenen Geräte aus und trennen Sie alle Geräte von
der Netzspannung, ziehen Sie den Netzstecker! Das Ausschalten über
den Ein-/Ausschalter genügt nicht!
• Schrauben Sie das Gehäuse Ihres Computers auf und nehmen Sie den
Gehäusedeckel vorsichtig ab.
• Entfernen Sie eine 3.5"-Frontblende. Evtl. muss danach ein dahinter liegendes
Abschirmblech entfernt werden. Je nach Gehäuse ist es ggf. herauszubrechen;
evtl. muss dazu vorher die gesamte Frontseite des PC-Gehäuses entfernt werden
(je nach Gehäuse geschraubt oder geclipst).
• Schieben Sie dann den USB-Hub mit dem USB-Kabel in den 3.5"-Schacht, stek-
ken Sie einen 3.5"-Stromstecker korrekt auf und schrauben Sie den USB-Hub mit
4 Schrauben fest.
• Entfernen Sie ein Slotblech (muss je nach Gehäuse evtl. vorsichtig herausgebro-
chen werden), führen Sie das USB-Kabel durch die Öffnung.
Mit Hilfe des speziellen mitgelieferten Slotblechs kann das Kabel fixiert werden,
schrauben Sie es fest.
• Verbinden Sie den USB-Stecker (Typ A) mit einer entsprechenden USB-Buchse
Ihres PCs.
• Schrauben Sie den Computer wieder zu.
• Verbinden Sie Ihren Computer und Monitor mit der Netzspannung und schalten Sie
alle Geräte ein.
• Startet Ihr Computer nicht korrekt, so schalten Sie ihn sofort aus und kontrollieren

Sie sämtliche Einstellungen und Kabelverbindungen.

Vor dem erneuten Öffnen des PCs ist der PC von der Netzspannung zu trennen,
siehe oben!
Installation
Um einwandfreie USB-Unterstützung zu erhalten, müssen Sie mindestens Windows
98 verwenden.
Die letzte Version von Windows 95 (auf der CD steht "... mit USB-Unterstützung") ist
normalerweise nicht in der Lage, den Betrieb mit USB-Komponenten sicherzustel-
len.
Schalten Sie Ihren Rechner ein und warten Sie, bis das Betriebssystem geladen
wird. Normalerweise sollte die Hardwareerkennung den USB-Hub automatisch
erkennen als "Generic USB-Hub" o.ä.
Folgen Sie allen Anweisungen von Windows. Ein benötigter Treiber ist auf der
Windows-CD (98, 98SE, ME, XP) enthalten, deshalb liegt dem internen USB-Hub
keine Diskette oder CD bei.
Tipps und Hinweise
• Der interne USB-Hub MUSS mit dem PC-Netzteil verbunden werden.
Entgegen externen Hubs, die den Self-Powered-Betrieb (USB-Hub mit Netzteil)
und meist auch den Bus-Powered-Betrieb (Stromversorgung des Hubs erfolgt
über USB, kein Netzteil nötig) unterstützen, kann der interne USB-Hub nur im Self-
Powered-Modus betrieben werden.
Da die Stromversorgung des internen USB-Hubs über den PC erfolgt, ist dies
natürlich keinerlei Nachteil.
Achten Sie nur darauf, dass Sie Ihr PC-Netzteil korrekt mit dem internen USB-Hub
verbinden, sonst funktionieren angeschlossene USB-Geräte nicht.
• Falls Sie USB-Geräte öfters abstecken und später wieder einstecken (z.B. wenn
Sie Ihren Computer mehrmals transportieren müssen), so sollten Sie die USB-
Geräte immer in den gleichen USB-Port einstecken. So ersparen Sie sich die
erneute Hardwareerkennung.
• USB-Geräte erlauben das Ein- und Ausstecken während dem Betrieb. Sie brau-
chen also nicht Ihren PC ausschalten, wenn Sie Geräte ein- oder ausstecken wol-
len (bei anderen Schnittstellen kann dies zu Beschädigungen führen, z.B. wenn
Sie eine PS/2-Maus während dem Betrieb ein- oder ausstecken).
Finden jedoch Datenübertragungen auf dem USB-Port statt, z.B. wenn ein USB-
Scanner Daten an den PC liefert, und Sie ziehen den USB-Stecker heraus, könnte
das Anwendungsprogramm abstürzen und evtl. auch andere Daten beschädigen.

Prescribed Use

Fitting
If in doubt about the correct fitting of the product, please contact a
specialist or a specialist workshop and let them do the installation!
Improper installation might damage the USB hub, your PC and all
other connected devices.
Warning! Lethal danger!
Switch off the PC into which the product is meant to be installed and
all connected devices and separate all devices from the mains volta-
ge. Pull the mains plug! It is not sufficient to switch the devices off by
means of the On/Off switch!
• Screw off the housing of your PC and carefully remove the housing cover.
• Remove a 3.5" front cover. If necessary, remove the shield metal behind.
Depending on the type of housing, it has to be removed by breaking. If necessary,
remove the entire front of the PC housing (according to the housing type screwed
or with clips).
• Insert the USB hub with the USB cable into the 3.5" shaft, connect a 3.5" connec-
tor correctly and fasten the USB hub with 4 screws.
• Remove a slot metal (according to the housing it might have to be carefully remo-
ved by breaking) and put the USB cable through the opening. The cable can be
fixed by means of the enclosed slot metal; fasten it with screws.
• Connect the USB plug (type A) with a respective USB jack of your PC.
• Close the PC and fasten the housing with screws.
• Connect your PC and the monitor to the mains voltage and switch on all devices.
• If your PC does not start correctly, switch it off immediately and check all settings
and cable connections.

Installation
To obtain proper USB support, you have to use at least Windows 98.
The last version of Windows 95 (on the CD is written "... supporting USB") is nor-
mally not able to guarantee operation with USB components.
Switch on your PC and wait until the operating system is loaded. Normally, the hard-
ware recognition automatically recognizes the USB hub as "Generic USB- Hub" or
similar.
Follow all Windows instructions. You can find the required driver on the Windows CD
(98, 98SE, ME, XP). Therefore, no floppy disk or CD is enclosed in the delivery of the
USB hub.
Tips & Notes
• The internal USB hub MUST be connected with the PC mains unit.
Contrary to external hubs which support self-powered operation (USB hub with
mains unit) and in most cases bus-powered operation (power supply of the hub via
USB, no mains unit required), the internal USB hub can be operated only in self-
powered mode.
This is no disadvantage, because the power supply of the internal USB hub occurs
via the PC.
However, make sure that your PC mains unit is connected correctly with the inter-
nal USB hub. Otherwise, connected USB devices will not work.
• If sometimes you disconnect your USB devices and then connect them again (e.g.
if you have to transport your PC several times), always connect the USB devices to
the same USB port to avoid a repeated hardware recognition.
• IUSB devices allow the disconnection/connection during operation. This means
that you do not have to switch off your PC if you want to connect or disconnect
devices (with other interfaces this might involve damages e.g. if you
connect/disconnect a PS/ 2 mouse during operation).
However, if data are transmitted via the USB port, e.g. if an USB scanner transmits
data to the PC and you unplug the USB connector, the application program might
crash and even other data might be damaged.
