Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt ist zum Einbau in einen PC-kompatiblen Computer vorgesehen und
stellt dort zusätzliche USB2.0-Schnittstellen zur Verfügung.
Wenn Sie noch keinen USB2.0-Controller (PCI-Karte oder Schnittstelle auf
Mainboard) haben, kann das Produkt auch als Erweiterung der USB1.1-Ports ver-
wendet werden.

Konfiguration
Einbau
Falls Sie keine Fachkenntnisse für den Einbau besitzen, so lassen Sie
den Einbau von einer FACHKRAFT oder einer entsprechenden
Fachwerkstatt durchführen!
Durch unsachgemäßen Einbau wird sowohl der USB-Hub als auch Ihr
Computer und alle angeschlossenen Geräte beschädigt.
Vorsicht, Lebensgefahr!
Schalten Sie den Computer, in den der USB-Hub eingebaut werden
soll und alle angeschlossenen Geräte aus und trennen Sie alle Geräte
von der Netzspannung, ziehen Sie den Netzstecker! Das Ausschalten
über den Ein-/Ausschalter genügt nicht!
• Schrauben Sie das Gehäuse Ihres Computers auf und nehmen Sie den
Gehäusedeckel vorsichtig ab.
• Entfernen Sie ein Slotblech und schrauben Sie den USB-Hub dort fest.
Die unten am USB-Hub herausstehende Nase kann in einen PCI-Slot gesteckt
werden, sie dient jedoch nur zur Verbesserung der mechanischen Stabilität, sie
hat keinen elektrischen Kontakt zum PCI-Slot!
Sie können den USB-Hub deshalb auch an beliebiger anderer Stelle einbauen,
achten Sie dann aber darauf, dass die "Nase" keine Bauteile des Mainboards
beschädigt!
• Verbinden Sie den Stromanschluss ("J1") auf der Platine über einen 3.5"-
Stromstecker mit dem PC-Netzteil.
• Schrauben Sie den Computer wieder zu.
• Verbinden Sie die viereckige USB-Typ-B-Buchse ("UP2") über das mitgelieferte
Kabel mit einem USB2.0-Port Ihres PCs.

Falls Sie noch keinen USB2.0-Anschluss in Ihrem PC haben, kann das Kabel
selbstverständlich auch mit einem herkömmlichen USB1.1-Port verbunden wer-
den.
Es ist dann aber natürlich keine schnelle USB2.0-Datenübertragung möglich!
• Verbinden Sie Ihren Computer und Monitor wieder mit der Netzspannung und
schalten Sie alle Geräte ein.
• Startet Ihr Computer nicht korrekt, so schalten Sie ihn sofort wieder aus und kon-
trollieren Sie sämtliche Einstellungen und Kabelverbindungen.
Vor dem erneuten Öffnen des PCs ist der PC wieder von der Netzspannung zu
trennen, siehe oben!
Treiber-Installation
Die Treiber sind in Windows enthalten, deshalb liegt keine Treiberdiskette o.ä. bei.!
Folgen Sie allen Anweisungen von Windows.
Eventuell ist danach zuerst ein Neustart nötig, bevor USB2.0-Geräte einwandfrei
erkannt werden.
Tipps & Hinweise
• Zum Betrieb ist mindestens Windows 98 erforderlich.
• Es ist belanglos, welchen der USB2.0-Ports Sie zuerst benutzen, da alle
Anschlüsse gleichberechtigt sind. Wenn Sie öfters Geräte an- und abstecken, so
sollten Sie darauf achten, dass das Gerät immer an den gleichen USB-Port ange-
steckt wird. Ansonsten ist eine erneute Treiberinstallation des Geräts erforderlich.
• USB-Geräte erlauben das Ein- und Ausstecken während dem Betrieb. Sie brau-
chen also nicht Ihren PC ausschalten, wenn Sie Geräte ein- oder ausstecken wol-
len (bei anderen Schnittstellen kann dies zu Beschädigungen führen, z.B. wenn
Sie eine PS/2-Maus während dem Betrieb ein- oder ausstecken).
Finden jedoch Datenübertragungen auf dem USB-Port statt, z.B. wenn ein USB-
Scanner Daten an den PC liefert, und Sie ziehen den USB-Stecker heraus, könn-
te das Anwendungsprogramm abstürzen und evtl. auch andere Daten beschädigt
werden!
• Bei Windows ME/XP erscheint bei manchen USB-Geräten (meist Festplatten, CD-
ROMs/-Brenner, Kartenlesegeräte) ein Icon mit einem Doppelpfeil in der
Menüleiste. Über diese Funktion können Sie das USB-Gerät vom PC "trennen",
dem PC also mitteilen, dass er offene Dateien schließen soll.
• Die USB2.0-Ports unterstützen selbstverständlich auch USB1.1. Deshalb können
hier auch herkömmliche "langsame" USB-Geräte angesteckt werden.
• Wollen Sie USB2.0-Geräte über einen USB-Hub betreiben, so ist ein USB2.0-Hub
(wie der hier mitgelieferte) erforderlich. Mit einem herkömmlichen USB1.1-Hub
funktioniert der High-Speed-Betrieb von USB2.0 nicht. Die USB2.0-Geräte arbei-
ten dann nur mit der "normalen" USB1.1-Geschwindigkeit.
• Für einwandfreien USB2.0-Betrieb sind keine speziellen "USB2.0-Kabel" erfor-
derlich. Herkömmliche USB-Kabel reichen vollig aus, allerdings müssen diese
abgeschirmt sein.
Sollten Sie beim Betrieb von USB2.0-Geräten Übertragungsprobleme feststellen,
so können Sie versuchsweise ein USB-Kabel verwenden, das auf USB2.0-Betrieb
getestet worden ist ("USB2.0-certified").
• Im abgesicherten Modus von Windows ist kein USB-Betrieb möglich.
USB-Tastaturen und USB-Mäuse funktionieren deshalb normalerweise nicht
(evtl. bietet das BIOS Ihres Motherboards USB-Unterstützung für eine USB-
Tastatur bzw. -Maus).

Prescribed Use
The product is to be installed in a PC-compatible computer and provides additional
USB2.0-interfaces.
If you do not have a USB2.0-controller (PCI-card or interface to the main board) the
product may also be used as an extension of the USB1.1-ports.

Installation
If you do not have any expertise for installation have it done by an
EXPERT or at a relevant specialist's workshop!
Improper installation damages the USB-hub as well as your comput-
er and all connected devices.
Caution, mortal danger!
Switch off the computer in which the USB-hub is going to be installed
and all connected devices and separate them from the mains voltage,
pull the mains plug out of the socket! Switching them off at the
on/off-switch is not sufficient!
• Unscrew the casing of your computer and remove carefully the covering of the
casing.
• Remove the slot metal sheet and screw down the USB-hub instead. The "nose"
sticking out underneath the USB-hub can be plugged in a PCI-slot, however, it
serves only for improving the mechanical stability and has no electrical contact
with the PCI-slot!
Therefore you may also install the USB-hub at any other place but please make
sure that the "nose" does not damage any other component of the main board!
• Connect the supply point ("J1") on the circuit board via a 3.5"-mains plug to the
PC-mains unit.
• Screw down the casing of the computer.
• Connect the rectangular socket USB-type B ("UP2") with the supplied cable to a
USB2.0-port of your PC.
If you do not have a USB2.0-connection in your PC the cable may, of course, be
connected to a regular USB1.1-port. Consequently, however, no fast USB2.0-data
transmission is possible!

• Reconnect your computer and your monitor to the mains voltage and switch on

all devices.
• If your computer does not start correctly switch it off immediately and check all
settings and cable connections.
Prior to opening the PC once more the PC has to be separated from the mains
voltage again, see above!
Driver Installation
The drivers are included in Windows, that is why no driver-CD or similar is includ-
ed!
Follow all instructions of Windows.
A restart might become necessary to operate the USB2.0-devices properly.
Tips & Notes
• Operation requires at least Windows 98.
• It is of no importance which of the USB2.0-ports you use first as all connections
are equal. If you are going to frequently plug in and disconnect devices make sure
that the device is always connected to the same USB-port as otherwise the driv-
er installation must be repeated.
• USB-devices may be plugged in and disconnected during operation. Therefore
you do not have to switch off your PC when you plug in or disconnect devices
(with other interfaces this can cause damage, e.g. if you plug in/disconnect a
PS/2-mouse during operation).
However, if you pull out the USB-plug during data transmission, e.g. while a USB-
scanner is delivering data to the PC, the application programme might crash and
other data might be damaged as well!
• Windows ME/XP will indicate an icon with a double arrow in the menu bar for
some USB-devices (mainly for hard disks, CD-ROMs/-burners, card readers).
With this function you may "separate" the USB-device from the PC by telling the
PC that all open files are to be closed.
• Of course, the USB2.0-ports support as well USB1.1. That is why here regular
"slow" USB-devices may be connected as well.
• If you wish to operate USB2.0-devices via a USB-hub a USB2.0-hub (like the one
supplied) is necessary. Using a regular USB1.1-hub the high speed operation of
USB2.0 will not function. In such a case USB2.0-devices will work only with the
"normal" USB1.1-speed.
• No specific "USB2.0-cables" are necessary for proper USB2.0-operation. Regular
cables are absolutely sufficient, however, they must be shielded.
If you note any transmitting problems when operating the USB2.0-devices you
might try a USB-cable which has been tested for USB-operation ("USB2.0-certi-
fied") on a test basis.
• In the secured mode of Windows no USB-operation is possible.
Therefore normally USB-keyboards and USB-mice do not function (the BIOS of
your motherboard might offer USB-support for a USB-keyboard or –mouse).
