d) Operation
• Before first use, charge the rechargeable battery charge completely by switching
the switch on the bottom of the solar module to „OFF" and leaving the product out-
side for two full sunny days.
• Light „ON" time will vary depending on the amount and strength of the sunlight the
product receives.
Cold temperatures also have a negative impact on the rechargeable battery's per-
formance.
• During extended periods of weather without sufficient sunlight (especially in win-
ter), it is possible that the rechargeable battery's charge state is sufficient to light
the product for a brief time only. This is because the rechargeable battery charges
less energy during the day than the lights use at night, which inevitably shortens
light „ON" time.
This can discharge the rechargeable battery completely over time and thus
damage it.
Therefore, turn off the product in due time (switch position „OFF").
• In order to prolong the product's service life, we recommend turning off the solar
chain of party lights in winter (or for extended periods of disuse) and storing it in a
dry, frost-free room. Turn off the product during storage (switch position „OFF").
We recommend removing the rechargeable battery from the battery compartment
during storage to prevent it from leaking and damaging the product.
You can also charge the rechargeable battery using a suitable charging device.
Read the following chapter for information on removing/replacing the rechargeable
battery.
• Keep the solar module's surface clean. Dust and dirt reduce the solar cell's perfor-
mance as the charging current to the rechargeable battery is reduced.
Removing/inserting the rechargeable battery
• Unscrew both screws from the rechargeable battery compartment lid on the back of
the solar module and lift off the lid.
• Remove the rechargeable battery from the battery compartment and replace it with
a new identical rechargeable battery.
Heed correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when inserting rechargeable batteries.
• Replace the rechargeable battery compartment lid and use the provided screws to
screw it into place.

Maintenance and cleaning

The product is maintenance-free part from occasionally replacing the rechargeable
battery. The LEDs are permanently installed and non-replaceable.
Maintenance or repairs may be carried out by a professional only.
Use a clean, soft and slightly damp cloth to clean the product exterior.
Never use any aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions as they may cause
damage to the housing or the product to malfunction.
Do not apply too much pressure to the solar module to prevent damaging it.
Disposal
a) General
Do not dispose of the product with your household waste.
Please dispose of the device at the end of its service life in accordance with
legal regulations; e.g. return the device to a public collection point.
Remove the inserted rechargeable battery and dispose of separately from
the product.
b) Disposing of used rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are legally bound to return all used rechargeable batteries; dispo-
sing of used rechargeable batteries with household waste is prohibited.

the symbol shown opposite, which indicates that disposal with household
waste is prohibited.
The designations for the heavy metals involved are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg =
Mercury, Pb = Lead
You can dispose of your used rechargeable batteries free of charge at collection points
