"Birdy" bird scarer

Intended use
The product is intended to be used for chasing away birds. For this purpose, the warning cries
of birds of prey are played through a loudspeaker.
An inbuilt PIR movement sensor detects heat changes in the detection range (e.g. if an animal
moves in the detection range) and then activates the loudspeaker.
Operation is via the enclosed wall plug transformer.
The bird scarer is suitable for use outdoors; however, the enclosed wall plug transformer may be
used only in dry, enclosed indoor areas; it must never get damp or wet!
Any use other than described above may damage the product, there may also be other
dangers. Observe all the safety instructions in these operating instructions.

Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions! We do not assume liability for any resulting dam-
age.
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by
improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions. In such cases,
the warranty will be null and void.
General safety instructions
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modifi cation of the unit is not permitted
because of safety and approval reasons (CE).
• This product is not a toy, and should be kept out of the reach of children. Install and
use the product out of the reach of children.
• Do not carelessly leave the packaging material lying around since it could become
a dangerous plaything for children.
• If you sell this product or give it away, you must hand over these operating instruc-
tions.
• Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental
drops, even from a low height.
• On industrial sites, the accident prevention regulations of the association of the
industrial workers' society for electrical equipment and utilities must be followed.
• If you have any questions that are not answered in this manual, please contact our
technical service or another specialist.
Product Specifi c Safety Instructions
• The bird scarer is suitable for use outdoors. However, never immerse it in water!
• The wall plug transformer is solely intended for use in dry, enclosed interiors; it
must not get damp or wet. Never touch it when your hands are wet or damp!
Otherwise, there is a risk of a life-threatening electric shock!
• The product should not be exposed to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight,
intense vibration or heavy mechanical stresses. This can cause malfunctions and/
or faults.
• Never use the product immediately after it has been brought from a cold room into
a warm one. The condensation that results may destroy the device. Furthermore,
there is a danger of an electric shock associated with the wall plug transformer.
Wait until the product reaches room temperature and the condensation has evapo-
rated. This may take several hours. Only then can you connect the wall plug trans-
former to the mains voltage.

PIR sensor features
The PIR motion detector responds to temperature changes within the detection range, e.g.
if a person, an animal or a car with a different temperature to the detection area enters the
detection area.
To ensure optimum detection, the movement sensor must be placed so that the object to be
detected does not approach the movement sensor directly, but passes from left to right or vice
versa. Bear this in mind when you choose a suitable location for installation.
The range for detecting motion is determined by several factors:
• The movement sensor's mounting height
• Temperature difference between the moving object and the background (ambient)
• The size of the object
• The distance of the object from the movement sensor
• Direction and speed of the movement
• Ambient temperature
Installation
• Choose a suitable site for installing the bird scarer, and lay the low-voltage cable for the
enclosed wall plug transformer to the installation site.
• Attach the bird scarer so the loudspeaker is located underneath. Any other assembly may
result in water penetrating into the bird scarer, thereby destroying it and voiding the warranty!
Mount the bird scarer at a height of 1 to 2.5 m. The range of the PIR movement sensor is up
to 9 m, the (horizontal) detection angle is 130°.
Align the PIR movement sensor with the surface to be monitored, e.g. a vegetable patch, etc.
Keep this product out of direct sunlight; further, to avoid false alarms, do not point the PIR
movement sensor at sunlit areas.

• The bird scarer can be hung from a hook, a nail or screw. You can also use the enclosed
mounting accessories, depending on the surface, or other suitable screws or anchors.
• Connect the low-voltage connector to the female connector on the bottom of the bird scarer.
Plug the wall plug transformer into a mains socket.
• When activated, the bird scarer emits various warning cries of birds of prey. This
inevitably causes a noise nuisance for your neighbours.
Depending on the ambient conditions, it can also lead to false alarms.
Therefore, the product should not be used continuously, depending on the site of
installation.
• If the product or a part thereof is faulty, it must not be used. It may be repaired only
by a specialist.
• A safe operation can no longer be assumed, if:
- the product shows visible signs of damage,
- the product does not work any longer
- the product was stored for a longer period of time in unfavourable conditions
- it was exposed to heavy loads during transport
• If you have reason to assume that safe operation is no longer possible, disconnect
the product immediately and secure it against inadvertent operation. Disconnect
the wall plug transformer from the mains voltage!
• Do not pull the wall plug transformer from the mains socket by pulling on the cable.
• If the product is not to be used for some time (e.g. during storage), unplug the wall
plug transformer.
• Always unplug the wall plug transformer from the mains socket before cleaning the
product.
• The design of the power transformer complies with protection class II. Only con-
nect the wall plug transformer to a standard wall socket connected to the public
supply.
• When mounting the product, make sure that the connection cable is not squeezed
or damaged by sharp edges.
The wall plug transformer may only be used in dry, enclosed spaces. It must not get
damp or wet. Failure to observe this causes a danger to life from electric shock!
Protect the low-voltage cables against sharp edges, do not crush them.
If the area to be covered is unfavourable, the PIR movement sensors can be disa-
bled; instead of the PIR, an interval mode is used to activate the loudspeaker every
5 to 30 minutes (interval is adjustable via rotary knob).
