OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

RADIO-CONTROLLED RAIN GAUGE ERM 20
INTENDED USE
The product displays the inside and outside temperature, the amount of rainfall as well as
the date and time of the day. An alarm function is also integrated.
The rain gauge and outdoor sensor are operated with batteries.
Always observe the safety instructions and all other information included in these opera-
ting instructions.
This product complies with the applicable national and European requirements. All names

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to
observe these safety instructions. We do not assume liability for any
resulting damage.
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused
by improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions. The
warranty will be void in such cases.

For safety and licensing (CE) reasons, unauthorised conversion and/or modifi cations of
the product are not permitted. Never dismantle the product.
-
The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children. It should be
operated out of the reach of children.
-
The rain gauge is intended for use only in dry, indoor locations.
-
The outdoor sensor is intended for use outdoors (e.g. on a roof of a garage or carport
or the like). Do not operate the product in or under water as this may destroy it!
-
If the product is brought from a cold into a warm room (e.g. during transport), conden-
sation may develop. This could damage the product.
Wait until the product has reached room temperature before using it. This may take
several hours.

Do not leave the packaging materials unattended. They may become dangerous play-
things for children.
-
Handle the product with care; it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental drops,
even from a low height.
GENERAL INFORMATION ON BATTERIES /
RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES
-
Batteries/rechargeable batteries do not belong in the hands of children.
-
Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; there is a risk that they
could be swallowed by children or pets. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.

Leaking or damaged batteries / rechargeable batteries in contact with the skin can
cause acid burns; therefore, use suitable safety gloves.
-
Batteries/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into a
fi re. There is a risk of explosion!

Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries; risk of explosion! Only charge re-
chargeable batteries that are intended for this purpose; use a suitable battery charger.
-
Never mix standard batteries with rechargeable batteries, use either standard batteries
or rechargeable batteries.
-
Do not mix batteries/rechargeable batteries with different charge levels (e. g. full and
half-full batteries/rechargeable batteries).
-
Always replace the complete set of batteries/rechargeable batteries.
-
Check that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries
(pay attention to plus/+ and minus/-).

If you wish to use rechargeable batteries, please note that the operating time will de-
crease due to lower output voltage (batteries = 1.5V, rechargeable batteries =1.2V).
Moreover, rechargeable batteries are more temperature-sensitive than normal ones.
 
Therefore, we recommend that you use high-quality alkaline batteries to ensure
long-lasting and reliable operation.

GETTING STARTED
a) Outdoor sensor

Open the outdoor sensor, remove the lid with the rain collection container. To this end,
the lid should be turned to the left anticlockwise, see arrow and inscription "OPEN" on
the bottom edge.

Remove the cover of the battery compartment (19) by unscrewing 6 small screws with
a suitable screwdriver.

Insert three AA/Mignon batteries with the correct polarity (observe +/Plus and
-/Minus). You will fi nd the corresponding illustration in the battery compartment.
-
Before you close the battery compartment and assemble the outdoor sensor, you
should fi rst put the rain gauge into operation.
If the rain gauge has found the wireless signal from the outdoor sensor, you can screw
the battery cover and place the lid with the rain collection container and lock by turning
it to the right clockwise.
b) Rain gauge
-
Flip the foot (16) down. Then remove the battery cover (15).
-
Insert two Micro/AAA batteries, with the correct polarity (observe +/Plus and -/Minus).
You will fi nd the corresponding illustration in the battery compartment.
After inserting the batteries, all display segments will appear briefl y and the rain gauge
will beep several times.

Close the battery compartment again.

If only distorted characters appear on the display, briefl y press the countersunk
"RESET" key (6) using e.g. a toothpick (or remove batteries for a few seconds until the
display goes off and then replace them).

The rain gauge will start to attempt to detect the signal from the outdoor sensor for
a period of about 6 minutes. During this time, the reception icon "
of the display fl ashes. Do not move the rain gauge and the outdoor sensor during that
time. Do not use any buttons.
If the signal is detected properly, then the icon stops fl ashing The outdoor temperature
also appears on the top display line.
If this is not the case after 6 minutes, then briefl y press the "RE-SYNC" key (12), then
the search for the outdoor sensor restarts.
