Functional Description
www.conrad.com
The device uses a built-in ultrasonic generator that generates a sound inaudible to the human
ear but uncomfortable for cats, dogs, martens and other wildlife. The Animal Repeller makes
Version 09/14
use of altering sound frequencies in the range of 18 kHz - 60 kHz. Further deterrent happens
via built-in LED flashes located at the front of the device. That way the animals are driven away
out of the effective range of the device.
The device is activated via a PIR motion detector. The duty cycle is 20 seconds after an object
has been identified in the PIR range of detection.
Installing batteries
• Remove the two screws on the battery compartment cover using a screw driver. Remove the
battery compartment cover.
• Insert (5x 1,5 V Mignon batteries; Typ AA) batteries into the compartment matching the cor-
rect polarity. The matching pole orientation is marked inside the battery compartment
• Close the battery compartment again. Secure the cover again using the two screws.
Features of the PIR Motion Detector
The PIR sensor responds to the infrared (heat) radiation from moving objects, e.g. people and
animals, in its detection range.
The sensor responds best to movements across the detection range. Keep this in mind when
installing the product.
The PIR sensor's detection range is max. 7 m. The bigger the distance to the monitored area,
the bigger the object must be, so that its different heat radiation will be detected.
Furthermore: At higher ambient temperatures (e.g. at a hot summer's day) the range will de-
crease, because the difference in temperature is getting smaller here.
Do not place the PIR motion detector above heat sources or close to the floor. Rain drops falling
on the PIR lens can lead to detection problems.
Do not point the PIR motion detector at heat sources. This inhibits the detection of birds that
cross the monitored area.

Installation

The Animal Repeller can be mounted on a wall or set up on the ground using the three-piece
spike.
The device should be installed in the immediate vicinity of the guarded area.
Only use batteries of the specified type. Use alkaline batteries to achieve as long a
period of operation as possible.
Cold temperatures have a negative influence on the service life of the batteries
(reduced operating time).
The product has been approved for use with 5x 1.5 V Mignon batteries (type AA)
only. Do not use any other power supply.
Make sure the surface is solid and smooth, e.g. masonry, when mounting the
device on a wall.
When installing the device to a surface or using the ground spike, take pre-
caution that you do not damage any power, gas or water supply lines! Danger
to life!
Verify that the Animal Repeller is mounted properly and attached securely. If
the device falls, it may harm other people.
The product must be installed and operated in such a way that animals have
sufficient escape routes. Therefore, never operate it in the vicinity of cages,
stables or apartments.
The product is adequately protected against moisture and rain. However, it
must not be subjected to jets of water.
Consider selecting an installation site that is not prone to vandalism and theft.
If the device should be installed in the yard, think also of your neighbours.
Choose a suitable position where the operation of the device (LED flash) will
not bother them.
Do not point the device towards areas that are accessed by people or used by
vehicles.
The birds may get accustomed. Change the position of the bird scarer.
We recommend you keep the Animal Repeller in a dry, warm room during win-
ter (or when not in use over a longer period of time) to ensure long and fault-
less performance.
