your garden, plants, fruit trees, etc. The device is activated with a PIR movement detector.
Any use other than that described above could lead to damage to this product and involves
the risk of short circuits, fire, electric shock, etc. The safety instructions have to be followed
without fail!
Explanation of the Symbols
A triangle containing a lightning symbol indicates a health hazard, e.g., elec-
tric shock.
This symbol, an exclamation mark in a triangle, indicates particular dangers
associated with handling, function or operation.
The "hand" symbol indicates special information and advice on operating the
device.
Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions! We do not assume any liability for any resulting
damage!
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by
improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions. The warranty

• The product must not be modified or converted, as not only will the CE approval become void
but also the warranty.
• The power is supplied with 3x 1.5V mono batteries, type D.
• The device may not be exposed to extreme temperatures, strong vibrations or heavy me-
chanical stress.
• The housing of the device is designed with IP55 protection class. Therefore, the animal repel-
ler can be used in outdoor locations.
• A damaged device must no longer be used and must be disposed of.
• The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children.

Battery Notes
• Batteries should be kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not leave batteries lying around in the open; there is a risk of them being swallowed by
children or domestic animals. If they are swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Make sure that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries (pay attention to plus/+ and
minus/–).
• Leaking or damaged batteries can lead to caustic burning of the skin. Therefore, use suitable
protective gloves.
• Batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into fire. There is a risk of explosion!
• Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries, due to risk of explosion!
• Never mix batteries of different charge states or different brands.

For the proper disposal of batteries and rechargeable batteries, please read the chapter "Dis-
posal".
Functional Description
www.conrad.com
Depending on the device settings, an ultrasound generator or bird of prey sound simulator is
activated by a built-in PIR movement detector. The sound simulator repels birds by imitating
Version 05/14
the cry of a bird of prey. The ultrasound generator generates a sound that is non-audible to
humans, but is unpleasant to cats, dogs and other wild animals, which will repel them from the
operational range of the device.
After detecting an object in the PIR detection area, the ultrasound generator is switched on for
about 20 seconds, the bird of prey sound simulator is switched for about 60 seconds.
Installing batteries
• Turn the large retaining screw on the battery compartment cover in anti-clockwise direction
until you can remove the battery compartment cover from the housing.
• Insert the batteries (3x 1.5V mono batteries; type D) in the battery compartment, while paying
attention to the correct polarity.
• Close the battery compartment again. Re-tighten the large retaining screw.
Features of the PIR Motion Detector
The PIR sensor responds to the infrared (heat) radiation from moving objects, e.g., people and
animals, in its detection range.
The sensor responds best to movements across the detection range. Keep this in mind when
installing the product.
The PIR sensor detection range is max. 7 m. The bigger the distance to the monitored area, the
bigger the object must be, so that its different heat radiation will be detected.
Furthermore: At higher ambient temperatures (e.g., at a hot summer's day) the range will de-
crease, because the difference in temperature is getting smaller here.
Do not place the PIR motion detector above heat sources or close to the floor. Raindrops falling
on the PIR lens can lead to detection problems.
Do not point the PIR motion detector at heat sources. This inhibits the detection of birds that
cross the monitored area.

Installation

Only use batteries of the prescribed type. Use alkaline batteries to achieve as long
a period of operation as possible.
Cold temperatures have a negative influence on the service life of the batteries
(reduced operating time).
The product is only approved for operation with 3x 1.5V batteries (type D). Do not
use any other power supply.
Make sure you install the device on a solid base, e.g., brickwork.
In the case of wall-mounting, be careful not to damage any power supply lines,
gas or water pipes accidentally while drilling! Life threatening!
Ensure a correct installation and a secure fitting of the animal repeller. People
may be hurt if the product falls.
The product must be installed and operated in such a way that animals have
sufficient escape routes. Therefore, never operate it in the vicinity of cages,
stables or apartments.
When selecting the place of installation, think of a vandal and thief-proof position.
If the device should be installed in the yard, think also of your neighbours. Choose
a suitable position and a corresponding volume so that they will not be bothered by
its operation (bird of prey sound simulator).
Do not set up the device on areas that are accessed by people or are driven by
vehicles.
The birds may get accustomed. Change the position of the animal repeller.
With respect to a long, trouble-free period of operation, we recommend storing the
animal repeller in a dry, warm room during the winter or when it is not used for a
longer period.
