Functional description
The DCF radio signal for the exact time is coded and broadcast from a transmitter in Maiflingen
near Frankfurt, Germany. The transmitter has a range of approx. 1,500 km. Clocks with
integrated radio receivers can receive and decode the radio signal within range of this radio
signal. For these clocks, manually setting the time is not necessary (e.g. when changing
from winter to summer time). The automatic change between summer and winter time takes
24 hours, at most.
Operating controls
The clock will now start to search for the DCF radio time signal. If the clock does not set itself,
move it closer to a window or turn it through 90°. To minimise interference to the reception, you
should not place the alarm clock in the vicinity of metal objects or other electrical apparatus. If
the synchronisation was successful, after about 5 minutes the current time will appear. If you
leave the area where the radio signal can be received (range 1,500 km), then the alarm clock
will work like a normal clock.
