Preparation for mounting
• Check that you can receive a signal before mounting the clock (see "DCF signal reception"
for details).

Installation

• The clock is designed to be hung on a wall.
• Use the rear-mounted hook to hang the clock.
Ensure that no existing cables or pipes (including water pipes) are damaged when
drilling mounting holes or securing screws.
• Secure the clock in place using a screw that protrudes a few millimetres from the wall.
• Refer to "Operation" for more information on using and setting up the wall clock.
• Hang the clock on the screw using the hook.

Operation

a) Inserting/replacing the battery
• Remove the used battery (if applicable).
• Before inserting the battery for the first time, remove the locking pin (4) on the back of the
clock.
• Insert one 1.5 V AA battery (not included) into the battery compartment (5) on the back of the
clock, making sure that the positive (+) and negative (-) poles are correctly aligned.
• Change the battery if the clock fails to keep the time or the hands stop moving.
In principle, it is possible to operate the clock with a rechargeable battery. However,
rechargeable batteries have a lower voltage (rechargeable battery = 1.2 V,
conventional battery = 1.5 V) and a lower capacity, resulting in a shorter battery
life. If you wish to use a rechargeable battery, use a special NiMH battery with a low
self-discharge. For best results, we recommend that you use a high-quality alkaline
battery.
b) DCF signal reception
• To ensure optimal signal reception, do not place the clock next to other electronic devices,
cables, or metal objects. Some electronic devices may interfere with DCF reception.
• When you insert the battery, the clock will attempt to receive a DCF signal. The hands of
the clock will automatically move to 12:00. When a DCF signal is received, the hands will
automatically move to the correct time.
• This synchronisation process normally takes 2–5 minutes. The clock will display the correct
time when the DCF signal has been decoded (this can take up to 5 minutes).
It may take a few minutes for the clock to receive a DCF signal. Do not move the
clock or adjust any controls during this time.
Signal reception may be poor when the clock is placed near to double-glazed
windows, reinforced concrete, coated wallpapers or electronic devices, or when the
clock is placed in a cellar.
The hands will move several times while the time is being set.
If the correct time is still not displayed after 8 minutes, move the clock to a different
location and restart the DCF signal reception process manually. Press and hold
down the REC button (2) on the back of the clock for 3 seconds. The clock will
attempt to search for a time signal (see "Manual DCF signal reception" for details).
Wait 2–5 minutes for the time to be displayed.
