1.
Plug the mini XLR connector on the cable of your microphone
into the audio input connector (28) on the bodypack
transmitter.
2.
Set the on/off (21) switch to ON to switch power to the
transmitter on.
3.
Switch EasyPort on.
4.
Talk into the microphone and set the levels on your mixer
referring to the appropriate instruction manual or by ear.
5.
Turn GAIN control (22) down or up just enough that you don´t
hear any distortion, noise and unwanted signals.
Connecting a Line Signal:
1.
Connect the line source such as a mobile music instrument, a
MIX OUT signal of the mixer, etc. with a configured cable.
2.
Set the on/off switch (21) to ON to switch the transmitter on.
3.
Switch EasyPort on.
4.
Start the external Player and set the levels on your mixer of
the EasyPort referring to the appropriate instruction manual or
by ear.
5.
Turn GAIN control (22) down or up just enough that you don´t
hear any distortion, noise and unwanted signals.

3.5 Before the Soundcheck

Move the transmitter around the area where you will use the
system to check the area for „dead spots", i.e. places where the
field strength seems to drop and reception deteriorates. If you find
any dead spots, try to eleminate them by repositioning the
EasyPort with the integrated receiver.

3.6 Multi-Channel Devices

Achten Sie darauf, jeden Sendekanal (Sender + Empfänger) auf eine
eigene Frequenz einzustellen. Die verschiedenen Frequenzen dürfen
nicht direkt nebeneinander liegen (ca. 2 Kanäle auseinander).
Wählen Sie hierfür größere Frequenzschritte aus (z.B. Kanal
A1+A3+A5+A7. Verwenden Sie die Frequenzen möglichst alle
innerhalb einer Frequenzgruppe A,B,C oder D.
If recepience of a frequency is deteriorated, choose next free
channel.
Important:
Never use more than one transmitting channel with the same
frequency on the same place simultaneously. This causes strong
static noise.

4. Microphone Technique

4.1 EP-64 H Handheld Transmitter

Working Distance:
Basically, your voice will sound the bigger and mellower, the closer
you hold the microphone to your lips. Moving away from the
microphone will produce a more reverberant, more distant sound as
the microphone will pick more of the room's reverberation.
You can use this effect to make your voice sound aggressiv,
neutral, insinuating, etc. simply by changing your working
distance.

Proximity Effect:
Proximity effect is a more or less dramatic boost of low frequencies
that occurs when you sing into the microphone from less than 2
inches (5 cms). It gives more „body" to your voice and an
initmate, bass-heavy sound.
Feedback:
Feedback is the result of part of the sound projected by a speaker
being picked up by a microphone, fed to the amplifier, and
projected again by the speaker. Above a specific volume or „system
gain" setting called the feedback threshold, the signal starts being
regenerated indefinitely, making the sound system howl and the
sound engineer desperately dive for the master fader to reduce the
volume and stop the howling.
To increase usable gain before feedback, the microphone element
of the EP-64 H handheld transmitter has a supercardiod polar
pattern. This means that the microphone is most sensitive to
sounds arriving from the sides or rear (from monitor speakers for
instance) main speakers in front of the microphones (along the
front edge of the stage).
Microphone axis:
Ask your lecturer never to speak more than 35 degrees off the
microphone axis. The microphone is very insensitive to off-axis
sounds.

4.2 AN-4 Lavalier Microphone

Clamp the microphone AN-4 on your clothing as close as possible
to your mouth. Remember that gain-before-feedback will be the
higher the smaller the distance between the microphone and
mouth (refer to 4.1)!
Make shure to aim the microphone at
your mouth.
The supplied windscreen makes the
microphone even less susceptible to
wind and pop noise.
Recommendation: turn GAIN control
(22) at the bodypack receiver in
„position 9 o´clock"

4.3 HS-4 Head-worn Microphone

The HS-4 is a head-worn miniatur microphone with convenient
behind-the-neck headband. The microphone arm will place the
microphone next to your mouth to minimize pop noise and protect
the micorphone from contamination.
The headset microphone can be "bent"
into shape, ensuring maximum comfort
for the wearer
Recommendation: turn GAIN control
(22) at the bodypack receiver in
„position 9 o´clock"

5. Cleaning

Use a soft cloth moistered with water to clean the receiver and
transmitter surfaces.
