3. Setting Up

Prior to setting up your EP-64 Set, check the
transmitter and receiver are tuned to the same
frequency. For further information refer to section
3.3 and 3.4.

3.1 Placing the receiver / EasyPort

Reflections off metal parts, walls, ceilings, etc. or the shadow
effects of musicians and other people may weaken or cancel the
direct transmitter signal.
For the best result, place the receiver as follows:
1.
Place the EasyPort near the performance area (stage). Make
sure, though, that the transmitter will never get any closer to
the receiver than 3 m. Optimum separation is 5 m.
2.
Check that you can see the receiver from where you will be
using the EasyPort with integrated transmitter.
3.
Place the EasyPort at least 1.5 m away from any big metal
objects, walls, scaffolding, ceilings, etc.
3.2 Inserting Batteries into the Handheld/Bodypack
Transmitter
Handheld Transmitter:
1.
Unscrew the the battery compartment lid and
pull it down to remove from transmitter.
2.
Insert the supplied batteries into the battery
compartment conforming to the polarity marks.
3.
Set the on/off switch (11) to POWER to turn on
the transmitter. The controll display will flash
momentarily. If the display illuminates the
batteries are finnished. Insert new batteries.
4.
To close the battery compartment, slide the
battery compartment lid onto the battery
compartment from below and screw tight.

Bodypack Transmitter:
1.
Depress the snap hooks on left and right side
and push down the inside of the transmitter
with the other hand. The compartment on the
back side is now accessible.
2.
Insert the supplied batteries into the battery
compartment conforming to the polarity
marks.
3.
Set the on/off switch (21) to POWER to turn
on the transmitter. The controll display will
flash momentarily. If the display illuminates
the batteries are finnished. Insert new
batteries.
4.
To close the battery compartment, slide the
inside of the transmitter up to the point that
they will click shut.
Note:
The screwdriver supplied may come in useful when replacing the
batteries.

3.3 Setting Up the Handheld Transmitter

1.
To turn the the transmitter on set the on/off switch to POWER.
2.
Switch EasyPort on.
3.
Talk into the microphone and set the levels on your mixer
referring to the appropriate instruction manual or by ear.
4.
If necessary, adjust the Gain ... (see section 2.5.2)

3.4 Setting Up the Bodypack Transmitter

Connecting a Microphone:
The EP-64 P bodypack transmitter has been designed primarily for
use with the AN-4 and HS-4 microphones from Fohhn. If you wish
to connect other microphones from other manufacturers to the EP-
64 P, please note that you may have to rewire the existing
connector of your microphone or replace it with a 4-pin mini XLR
connector.
Audio input (30) pinout:
Pin 1: shield
Pin 2: Phantom 5 volts
Pin 3: Hot
Pin 4: connected with Pin 3
A psoitive supply voltage of 5 V for condenser microphones is
available on pin 2.
Important:
Please note that Fohhn Audio cannot guarantee that the EP-64 P
bodypack transmitter will work perfectly with products from other
manufacturers and any damage that may result from such use is not
covered by the Fohhn warranty scheme.
