5.2 Capacity Measurement
Prior to any capacitor test, it
must be ensured, that the
capacitor to be tested is com-
pletely discharged. Failure to
comply with this prescription
can lead to dangerous corpo-
ral user injuries or cause
instrument damage. Additio-
nally, charged capacitors fal-
sify the measurement result.
Charged capacitors have to be
discharged using a high-ohm
resistance (not via short-
circuit !).
When dealing with polarised
capacitors, connect "-" pole
to
the
multimeter
COM
socket.
Resistors and semiconductor
Z
paths in parallel to the capacitor
cause
falsified
measurement
results.
