Power brush nozzle
• For optimum effectivity, we advise to use the
electric power nozzle in the switched-on mode
on carpet only.
• Preferably use medium suction power.
This is sufficient for optimum vacuuming.
As the dustbag becomes more and more full,
the suction power will decrease. Then slide the
control farther towards MAX until the desired
suction power is obtained again.
• Extremely deep pile carpets (deeper than 3 cm)
and long fringes (longer than 4 cm) cannot be
cleaned with the electric power brush as the
threads could wind around the brush roller and
get stuck.
When vacuuming shorter fringes, move the
nozzle only towards the ends of the threads.
• Do not attempt to pick up damp or coarse
debris, as this may cause obstruction.
How to use:
- Switching on: fig. 13. Slide the knob in the
hand grip forwards. The green pilot light on top
of the electric power brush comes on (fig. 14).
- Move the brush nozzle slowly forward and
backward over the carpet (fig. 15-16).
- Switching off: fig. 17. The green pilot light
goes out.
Red pilot light? Switch off!
The red pilot light indicates that the electric power
brush is blocked (fig. 18).
For safety the motor of the brush nozzle switches
off automatically.
When this happens:
- Switch off the electric power brush by sliding
the knob in the hand grip backwards (fig. 19).
The red pilot light goes out.
- Remove the electric power brush from the tube
(fig. 4).
- Press the release button to remove the brush
roller (fig. 20).
- Remove the cause of the obstruction (stuck
object, long hairs or threads, etc.).
- Replace the brush roller ("Click!") (fig. 21).
- About
1
minute after switching off the electric
2
power brush you can use this nozzle again.
• For replacement, you can order new roller
brushes from your dealer under type nr.
HR 6991 or service nr. 4822 479 20203.
• Regularly vacuum the vents at the top side of
the electric power brush. (E.g. everytime when
you replace the dustbag.)
Hard floor nozzle
This nozzle is especially advisable for large
surfaces of parquet, tiles, etc. (fig. 22).
Insufficient suction power?
Please check:
- if the control on the hand grip is in the required
position;
- if the dustbag is full;
- if the nozzle, tube or hose is blocked up.
To remove the obstruction, disconnect the
blocked-up item and connect it (as far as
possible) in adverse position. Then the air will
stream through the item in opposite direction.
Park
If you wish to interrupt vacuum cleaning, you can
place the tube clip into the rest (fig. 23).
You can slide the clip along the tube to change
the height.
In one movement the tube is parked in a
convenient position (fig. 24).
Storage
- Switch the vacuum cleaner off (fig. 25).
- Remove the mains plug from the wall socket.
- Rewind the mains cord by pressing the
cordwinder pedal (i) (fig. 26).
- Hitch the lower tube onto the vacuum cleaner
(fig. 27-28). You can slide the clip along the
tube to change the height.
Replacing the dustbag
• Only use this vacuum cleaner with the original
Philips dustbags types Oslo + (type nº.
HR 6938 or service nº. 4822 015 70049) or
Oslo + Hygiene (closeable) (type nº.
HR 6938-OSH or service nº. 4822 015 70057)
(fig. 29). Damage due to using other dustbags
is not covered by guarantee.
• The "dustbag full indicator" will indicate when
the dustbag is full (fig. 30).
- Switch the vacuum cleaner off (fig. 25).
- Remove the hose (fig. 1b).
- Open the cover (fig. 31).
- Remove the cassette with the full dustbag
(fig. 32).
