6.4.1 Preparing for flushing and filling
Note
An optional detailed procedure can be found in the
collector operating and installation instructions.
Note
Flush the system with potable water and not with heat
transfer medium.
Material losses
!
Never flush the system when there is a frost.
f Separate the expansion vessel from the solar thermal
f
system.
f Close the gravity brake by turning the ball valve to the 90°
f
position. The gravity brake is integrated inside the ball
valve above the pump.

1 Ball valve at the flow meter
The ball valve at the flow meter must be closed.
Turn the slot to the horizontal position.
f Connect the water supply to the BDF valve (connection
f
"fill") next to the pressure gauge.
f Connect the water drain pipe to the BDF valve (connec- f
tion "drain") next to the flow meter.
6.4.2 Flushing the solar thermal system
f Open BDF valves "fill" and "drain". f
f Commission the flushing and filling station and fill the sys- f
tem with water for flushing.
f Flush the system for at least 15 minutes.

After flushing, drain the system fully.
Residual water can cause damage if there is a frost.
6.4.3 Filling the solar thermal system

f Wear protective gloves when handling heat f
transfer medium.
f Wear safety goggles.
f
f Observe the safety datasheet for the heat trans-
f
fer medium.
Note
Before filling the heat transfer medium circuit, ensure
that the pipework installation has been completed,
the collectors are connected and the cylinder has been
filled.

Ensure that the heat absorbed by the collector can be
transferred.
f During commissioning, first fill the heating circuit,
f
then the solar circuit.

Never admix water or alternative heat transfer media.
Otherwise, the essential characteristics and corrosion
protection can no longer be guaranteed.

Never fill the system in strong sunlight. This could lead
to steam hammer inside the collectors.
f Cover the collectors.
f
f Fill the system with the heat transfer medium until it is ex- f
pelled free of bubbles.
f while filling the solar thermal system, vent it several times
f
at the vents, if these are installed.
f To vent the pump line, slowly open the gravity brake by
f
turning it to the 0° position.
