Documentation: This documentation is only valid for the
product or product range as stated in the type designation
on the cover sheet. Compliance with this documentation
in its entirety is mandatory. This technical documentation
must be read carefully prior to installation. Compliance
with the documentation is required. Contact the manufac-
turer if you have any questions. This documentation must
be retained for future reference.
User: This documentation is aimed at trained, professi-
onal electricians with safety awareness who are familiar
with mechanical and electrical equipment installations,
accident prevention regulations and ordinances by the
German Employer's Liability Insurance Association, and
contains important information for operators and users.
Compliance with safety instructions is mandatory.
Special symbols are used to highlight these instruc-
tions.

Important information
Intended use: The product must only be used
for the functions and applications detailed in accordance
with the applicable documentation. Unauthorised electrical
and mechanical modifications are not permitted. Acting to
the contrary will make all warranties and liabilities null and
void.
Transport and storage: The product must be transported
and stored only in its original packaging. Any collision
must be avoided. The product must not be dropped, expo-
sed to moisture, aggressive vapours, or harmful environ-
ments. Additional detailed transport and storage instruc-
tions provided by the manufacturer must be observed.
Installation: Only professional electricians trained in
accordance with recognised rules of engineering as well
as the technical documentation provided here shall be
permitted to proceed with the installation and assembly of
the product. This will guarantee the safe operation of the
product. The firm attachment of all mechanical compo-
nents must be verified. Immediately after

Following the installation, all electrical and mechanical
components must be checked to ensure their proper func-
tion. The test and the results must be documented.
Operation: The safe operation can only be guaranteed
if the acceptable rated values and guidelines regarding
maintenance information stated in this documentation as
well as supplementary information provided by the manu-
facturer are followed.
Multifunction: If a malfunction is identified in the course
of installation, maintenance, inspection, etc., immediate
action must be taken to resolve the problem.
Repair and maintenance: Defective equipment must be
repaired only by the manufacturer or by companies autho-
rised by the manufacturer. Only use original spare parts.
Only professional electricians trained in accordance with
recognised rules of engineering as well as the technical
documentation provided here and in depth documenta-
tion provided by the manufacturer shall be permitted to
proceed with the installation and assembly of the product.
This will guarantee the safe operation of the product. The
firm attachment of all mechanical components must be
verified. Immediately after the repair or installation, all
electrical and mechanical components must be checked
to ensure their proper function. The test and the results
must be documented.
Maintenance: If the product is used as part of a safety
system, e.g., a smoke and heat control systems (SHE),
it must be tested, maintained, and if necessary, repaired
at least once a year as specified by the manufacturer or
in accordance with DIN EN 18232-2 Smoke and Heat
Control Systems. This is also recommended for systems
used only for ventilation. If the product is used in other
safety systems, shorter maintenance intervals may be
necessary.
Systems composed of control devices, opening units, con-
trol sections, etc., and all components that interact directly
with each other must be included in the maintenance
procedure. Maintenance must be performed according to
the specifications provided by the manufacturer and the
applicable documentation.
Accessibility to all components that must be maintained
must be ensured. Defective equipment must be repaired
only by the manufacturer or by companies authorised
by the manufacturer. Only use original spare parts. All
components that have a specified maximum operation
time frame (e.g., rechargeable batteries) must be replaced
within this time (see technical specification) with original
parts or manufacturer-approved parts. The operation of
the equipment must be inspected on a regular basis. A
maintenance contract with a recognised service provider
is recommended.
