The universal remote control TP 820 SAT can be
used to perform all control functions and basic set-
tings.

The remote control unit can also be used to control
TV sets from GRUNDIG and many other makes (see
chapter on "Universal Remote Control" on page 7).
Several keys on the remote control have special

functions in the menu (see page 19).

Please insert the batteries supplied observing cor-
rect polarity! Markings on the base of the battery
compartment indicate this. Close the cover.
Please change used batteries promptly. We can

accept no liability for damage caused by leaking
batteries!
Key Functions
Switch receiver to stand-by

The required programme position is
selected directly by pressing the digit
keys, e.g. P 123.
When selecting a multi-digit programme
position, the digits are entered in order
from left to right. So, in the example,
you would enter 1, 2 and 3.
In this way you can select up to 999
SAT programme positions (SAT TV and
SAT radio).
– Switch receiver on from stand-by.
Switch through programme positions
step by step and switch on from stand-
by to the last programme position
selected (last station memory).

– Display station name and satellite on
the picture screen.
– When in a menu: save.
– In SAT mode: alter volume (at very

Using the Receiver (with the keys
on the remote control)
Selecting a programme position
Use the ]| keys to step through the programme
positions, or use the numeric keys to directly enter
the programme position number.
If the programme selection results also in the selec-
tion of a new satellite, the
symbol and a flashing
arrow in west or east direction are displayed.

Overload protection
If the motor current of the rotating aerial is too high
over a longer period of time, the unit switches to
stand-by to prevent an overload of the electronic
circuits.

Stand-by
Use the
key to switch the receiver to stand-by.

The programme position indications disappear on
the receiver. The red LED signals the stand-by
mode.
Press one of the ]| keys to switch the receiver
on again with the last selected programme position
(last station memory), or select the desired pro-
gramme position directly with the numeric keys
Even when the receiver is in stand-by, you can play
a video cassette or display the menu from the video
AV *
recorder on the TV screen. In this case, the signal is
looped through from the video recorder via the SAT
receiver to the TV set. If the receiver is in standby,
its display indicates " *
".
Switching between TV and Radio
Programme Positions
Use the blue
g
key to switch between the
RADIO

last selected TV programme position and the last
selected radio programme position. In radio mode
the picture screen is switched blue – only the
station name, the satellite name and the word
"RADIO" are displayed. In the display the word
" R A D I O " is lit.
Volume
Use the
keys to adjust the volume to suit your
x c
taste. If the volume is very low, "Vol min" is dis-
played on the picture screen.

Press the
key to display the programme
type (TV or radio), the programme position num-
ber, the station name (e.g. for stations without own
programme logo) and the satellite name (e.g. "19 °
East" for Astra).
Stereo/dual-channel sound
Stations with stereo sound broadcast often also
two-channel sound programmes (e.g. German,
English). Use the yellow
j
key to switch between
stereo and the sound channels.
When switching to another programme position,
the previous setting is restored. The setting can
permanently be changed in the menu: see section
"Audio Settings" on the pages 23/24.
Picture and sound improvement
(threshold extension/DX)
The STR 600 AP is especially suited for the recep-
tion of very weak signal. This is accomplished by its
integrated three-stage threshold extension circuit
DX1, DX2, DX3.
Select the desired programme position and press
the
®
key.

Use the
keys to select in the first menu line

the setting giving the best picture impression and in
the second line the setting giving the best sound
impression in DX mode.
If the signals are extremely weak, it may happen
that the display is not visible. In this case, press the
green
h
key (green screen background) and
select "DX2" in the first menu line. When pressing
the green
h
key once again, the TV picture
appears on the screen.
Press the
O
key if you wish to save the selected
values.
Press the
¢
key to exit the menu.

If you exit the menu without saving the setting, the
previous values are restored when changing the
programme position.
It may be necessary to optimize also the setting of
the transmission frequency for the programme in
the menu.
