LEVEL METER
The level meter consists of two 4-segment
LED displays for both left and right channel.
Meter range is from -30 ... 0 dBFs whereas 0
dBFs means full scale of the A/D converter.
Dynamic law of the meter corresponds to DIN
PPM (Peak Program Meter) specifications.
Risetime for full scale is 2 msec while the
release time is 1.5 sec for -20 dB signal
decrease.
THE A/D CONVERTER
The converter of the A/D part is as PCM
converter of latest technology. It offers a 24 bit
wide digital signal with up to 192 kHz sample-
rate. The achievable dynamic rage exceeds
119 dB with THD+n at –109 dB.
THE DIGITAL OUTPUTS
ADC C440 offers two outputs, balanced and
coaxial. The data format (professional or con-
sumer) is identical on both outputs, regardless
of their physical or electrical standard. The
outputs are situated on the rear panel.
THE OPERATION

The balanced output is equipped with an
XLR type connector, transformer balan-
ced, impedance 110 ohms according to
AES 3/11 standard.
Output voltage is > 4 Vss.
The coaxial output is equipped with a
-
Cinch connector, unbalanced, impedance
75 ohms, according to IEC 958.
As the output voltage is 1 Vss, it also suits
for AES-id applications.
THE DIGITAL OUTPUT FORMAT
The digital output format (professional or con-
sumer) is selected by the "FORMAT" button.
The frequency information entries are proces-
sed correctly in professional mode. In consu-
mer mode the entries are processed as far as
possible (Fs > 48 kHz is not provided in consu-
mer mode).
HINT:
In consumer mode, SCMS information (copy
protection) is handled as follows:

Byte 0, Bit 2 = 1 = copy permitted /
copyright not asserted.

Byte 1, Bit 7 = 0 = original / pre-recorded
data.
